Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 So every time the Wings and Hawks play each other do I get to look forward to 25 page threads like this one? Expect the expected in this case. Usually any game that involves "division rivals" as they so call it will be like this in the GDT's. Fans of other teams in the Central Division seem to think the Wings and whatever team that it is are rivals, so they come in and trash talk for hours on end. It's just as bad with the Preds and the Blues fans. But I disgress: the Wings have no rivals anymore, unless you honestly count Nashville as a rivalry. Even then, the lack of spirited and entertaining play between the Wings and most teams is lacking, therefore, those teams are not our rivals. It's all these peoples heads, if you ask me. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) Excuse me, but that was one big goddamn mistake to make at that point in the season. There's no reason to talk about this now, but I don't see how you can blame anyone here for being upset with Lilja over that mulligan he pulled. We might have won the cup if not for that play. Sports history is laden with screwups like Lilja that will always be remembered for one idiotic mistake that they made in a big moment. We can't just pretend on this forum that it never happened. It was more prominent because it was the last one, but Franzen's failure to clear the puck in the waning moments of regulation was the bigger and more important mistake. Without that one we win. Lilly's mistake not happening doesn't mean we win. We just don't lose on that play. No, No, No NN.........it had to be Lilja's mistake that cost the Wings the Cup last year. Nevermind the fact that Franzen's failed clearing attempt was a more severe mistake. Since Lilja's mistake resulted in a goal within 2 seconds of it happening, it has to be his fault that the Wings lost. GMR, the big picture here is not Lilja's *OT* mistake. People here still hate Wings players for one bad play that "may have cost them the Cup" 15 years ago. It never ceases to amaze me how the loss of a seven game series gets pinned on one moment from one player. Why isn't it all Datsyuk's fault for taking that bad interference penalty that led to the tying goal? Lilja's bad play was hardly of the Billy Buckner variety. EDIT: it may not look like it from the way the other posts got quoted, but I'm agreeing with you NFM. Edited October 10, 2007 by haroldsnepsts
