Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) Come on guys. 99% of post-game comments are just cliches. What did you expect him to say? That we don't have much depth and that our young guys aren't doing s*** out there. Or you'll get the usual cookie cutter interviews. Something along these lines: "Yeah, we played hard tonight. Big 2 points, you know. Their a skilled team, so it's good that we were able to come out of there with the win" *end interview* That's one of the reason why I've always liked JR. He may be an ass in some cases, but at least he has a personality, and makes interviews interesting to listen to. Most guys that are interviewed either give off the type of stuff I posted above, or don't talk at all (in the case of a lot of European's, who can't speak english very good). As for his "comments", it's just something he said to get through the interview. If he told the honest truth (that is our team is pretty s***ty right now, and the young guys should be shoved off to GR because their playing so bad) then he'd look like an *******. If he told the honest truth (that is our team is pretty s***ty right now, and the young guys should be shoved off to GR because their playing so bad) then he'd look like an *******. That's why I hate the majority of interviewers. They ask these pointlessly obnoxious questions that you KNOW what the hell the player is gonna say. What can they say? You delivered them a script and they're gonna follow through. And they all talk themselves to death. Half-way through the guy's paragraph of a question/commentary the guy coming off the ice is already three quarters braindead from the punishment. -- "So Kris, it's been a good twenty minutes of skating and passing the puck and shooting at the net. Do you expect there will be more of that? The Kings are up on you two goals right now. What is the key to winning this game?" "Uhh... scoring some goals, *******? I mean, we just gotta bring it to the net harder and play a tougher game. We gotta step it up." "Thanks Kris, it's been great having you. You heard it from the mouth of Kris Draper Mickey and Ken, this is John Keating, douching out. Back to you."

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 Youre a moron if you think Rafalski is going to feel comfortable playing big minutes for a new team, after he just played 7 years in a rigid hockey system. I bet it takes him at least 1/3rd of the season to adapt to our defense... ...but then again, Im just gonna say it. Nick Lidstrom so far has been crappy too. Ive seen more giveaways from him in the first 7 games than I have in a string of seasons. I have seen every Wings defenseman this year make at least 5 hefty mistakes in their own zone. Thats saying a lot.

I think it'd be a really good deal guys! Maybe Hasek in a unique 'trade' for Free Agent Cujo with a stipulation Dom becomes Joseph's full-time butler/off-ice assistant? YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 It's true, I was just scared to be the first person to say it. Now that the cat's out of the bag, discuss... I was hesitant to say it, because even I was noticing that when I saw Nick make a mistake, I would make excuses in my head for it. But its time to step out of the denial. Im NOT saying he cant turn it around, or that he should retire or anything, but Im gonna be worried if this first bit of the season is an indication of how hes gonna be playing. Could just be the age, so Im willing to bet he picks it up as we go along here. Could also be playing with Rafalski too. They just dont look like a comfortable pair. Does anyone else notice that? Doesnt seem like they have any chemistry, sans the PP.

A new defensive partner, plus the whole team has been out of sync with their defensive play. It's way too early to start worrying about Lids.

I'm not worried, I think he'll be just fine as the season goes on. He's just looked un-Lidstrom-like so far.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 Since were talking about defensive chemistry, I thought Markov-Lidstrom was a great pairing last year and they played well together ... So were Lidstrom and Kronwall before Kronwall's injury. It's definitely time to split Nick and Rafalski apart. As for Markov, there's no use in kicking a dead horse. He's not here, and likely won't be back. We don't need to get that desperate yet.
therock48880 14 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Hasek and Lidstrom have always gotten stronger as the year progressed, especially Hasek. I hope that trend continues this year.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Since were talking about defensive chemistry, I thought Markov-Lidstrom was a great pairing last year and they played well together ... You keep implying like the Wings should just fork over the 4 million Markov wants. I never cared for Markov that much. I expected him to be a lot more physical when we signed him. With the exception of his big hit on Jarret Stoll last year that set up the Datsyuk goal, he was never all that physical imposing. He was terrible in that playoff series against the Ducks, too. Plus, now that his past in Toronto is unearthed, it sounds like he comes with a lot of emotional baggage. While that was never made public here at least, something could have went on behind closed doors.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted October 17, 2007 It's true, I was just scared to be the first person to say it. Now that the cat's out of the bag, discuss... As a side note I commented on a particular play during the Ducks game that I thought Lidstrom didn't handle well. I didn't really get much sympathy for calling it the way I thought he should've played it. As for pointing out that Nick has made alot of mistakes. Personally, and I could be wrong i'll admit, but it seems to me he's on the ice for alot of goals against. Alot more than you'd think given how most people view him as incapable of doing any wrong. Let us not forget, Norris last year or not, he's 37 going on 38, he ain't no spring chicken anymore and unless he goes the Barry Bonds route, its hard for me to believe he's as good as he was 3 years ago, or 6 years ago. Yet that's how some view him still, as if he's in his prime, which he isn't anymore.
