Drake has a fractured cheekbone, will miss next two games

The Detroit Free Press's Helene St. James says that Red Wings forward Dallas Drake does in fact have a fractured cheekbone, but, in classic Drake fashion, he won't miss much time:

October 22, Detroit Free Press: Dallas Drake will be out at least the next two games, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland just told me.

Drake has a hairline fracture in his left cheekbone, the result of being rammed into the boards last Thursday by San Jose defenseman Kyle McLaren.

Drake flew home to Traverse City to spend time with his family Friday, and saw a specialist Monday.

Vancouver is the next game, so he won't be good for the 28th.

They play Vancouver in Detroit on the 24th, but they also play them again in Vancouver on the 28th. The hopes are that he is ready to play for the game on the 28th.

How long will it take to completly heal, because I think I'd prefer to just let Drake catch the rest, and sit out. I don't think he'll be nearly as effective in his role with a sheild on. Either way Drake was a great pick up this year.
