wingnut40 176 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 Was anyone else suprised when they read it? I think the contents of the article were ridiculous though. They're saying how Homer can't be right in front of the crease. That he has to move 1 to 2 feet away. What the heck? How retarded if that?! Anyway, Homer said something along the lines of "1 to 2 feet doesn't really matter all that much. It's not going to be different no matter how much you *****." I was so shocked that they actually put that in the paper. If I were Mike I would jump all over the League about the whole crease thing. It's total bullsh!t!!. The Coyotes player can actually be in the crease when the goal is scored and nothing's called, but when Homer's outside of the crease he gets a penalty. That needs to be taken care of NOW before we get farther in the season. :flamingmad:

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I dont think the Coyotes goal occurred with one of their players in the crease, but I could be mistaken. I'm not usually one to directly criticize the refs behavior or judging, but Homer really can't get a break this year. 3 disallowed goals in 9 games; 2 resulting in phantom penalties, and the third just bad luck. The Coyotes goal was pretty much a mirror image of what Homer did (the highlights are still on NHL.com). I'm not ready to say that the refs are out to "get" Homer, but that was one major bogus call on him last game. However, I think the previous call (where he got open by shoving down the defender before he got the puck and put it in) was more warranted. After the whistle, Homer sorta smiled, shrugged his shoulders, and didn't seem to protest too much. Edited October 23, 2007 by Gizmo
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0382/1128/rss16 There's a link for the article and here's Homer's quote (several quotes put together to save space): "It's been like this off and on," said Holmstrom after Saturday's game, with the same frustrated look he's had reappearing. "I have to step that extra one or two feet out of the crease and make sure." "What can you do?" Holmstrom said. "That's how it was. It doesn't do anything to complain. If that's the way they're going to call it, I have to go further out." "One foot shouldn't be that big a difference," Holmstrom said. "You get hit around the net, it's tough to know where you are, guys come to hit you, and the shots are coming, there's a lot of stuff going on." End quote. Yeah, so there's that. At least now the officials are on to the fact that we're on to them being on to Homer.
Rob the Badger 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 It seems like the league is desperate to increase goal scoring, unless it's done by the Red Wings. How many have we had disallowed this season? ... And now this? Grrr!
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 HA, they didn't put the part where he said "doesn't amtter how much you *****" I know it's immature, but I couldn't believe the paper was allowed to put that! It seems like the league is desperate to increase goal scoring, unless it's done by the Red Wings. How many have we had disallowed this season? ... And now this? Grrr! Yeah really. You see results from other games and they're like 6-4. 8-1, stuff like that. Eventually four goals isn't gonna be enough to win a game. If they want to increase scoring then they shouldn't call retarded penalties. I think the refs are out to get the Wings.
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted October 24, 2007 It hink the league should change the rule about goalies. You stay in the crease but if you leave it, you can get knocked on your ass. If the goalie is out of the crease and a player comes into contact with him, HE should get the interference penalty. This would increase scoring!!

If the goalie is out of the crease and a player comes into contact with him, HE should get the interference penalty. This would increase scoring!! It will never happen. Goaltenders are the most vulnerable players on the ice to injury from contact; that is why there are all kinds of rules regarding making contact with the goalie. The league will never do something that increases the risk of injury unneccessarily.

I don't know if it was a 'mirror image' Seemed like the Yotes' were closer to Hasek and the crease on their goal. I honestly have seen the replay 10 times, Homer does absolutely nothing except sort of battle with their D-man. Doesn't make any sense to me. :looney:
