cowan19 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2007 Does anyone know when the tickets for games in 2008 will be going on sale? I'm looking to go to my first Wings game. Also, can anyone comment on sitting in the upper bowl at the Joe? I've never been, so I was wondering if they are good seats, if you can see, etc. The lower bowl is too pricey for me. Thanks! --Erin
Gizmo 21 Report post Posted October 26, 2007 I'm going to guess that January/February tickets will go on sale middle to late November. The view from the upper bowl is fine, but try and stick to the sides instead of the corners or ends. Also, watch out for high "obstructed view" (this includes the "$9 seats") seating. You'll get a nose bleed view that you'll have to stand to be able to see anything.

Right now, your best bet would be to come and get them from a scalper, for a weeknight game. I've been to 3 games already this year, and haven't payed face value yet. I spent 65$ for 2 Tickets valuing 108$ (total) On Wednesday. Tonight, I spent 50$ on 76$ Tickets. If your'e worriedabout that, you should be able to get tix at the Box office, or, if you don't want to risk a sell out, there's always ticketmaster A good idea would be to get cheap tickets via Ticketmaster, If you want to be sure you'll get in, then Find a Scalper with Great tix, offer a trade up...say an extra 20$ a ticket, for lowers.....the best seats I've ever had At Lions or Tigers games were by going with cheap seats and trading up for a little extra. cheli's is either a 20 Minute walk or a 5 minute drive away....but with traffic around game time, it'll probably be a 20 min drive anyways. You should go to Cheli's for lunch, then go to Hockeytown (around the corner, kinda, from Cheli's) for a few beers.... 3$ Miller High life's Hope you Come and Have a great time! And Right now at the Joe, Canadian Money is At PAR!!!!!!!
jax 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Hi I am looking to buy five tix for my family to attend a RW game. Internet presale tix for Jan/Feb/March games go on sale Monday. But they don't go on sale to the general public till Wednesday. It appears that you can be "considered" for presales by being a member of Red Wings World (registration cost $40). Does anyone know about this? Is it worth it to be a member?? Thanx! Jax

To my knowledge you can't get them through ticketmaster.

Ticket presales were actually one of two things (the forum) that were good. The forum started to drop off, before I left, and I went in together with some guys for season tickets, so I didn't really see much in the site any more. The site was not really run by the Wings, so pretty much everything that was advertised wasn't really working. They changed providers, after I left, so I don't know if that changed anything. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Yup $9 are walkups only... preseason had them on ticketmaster but the real deals are for walk up only. Shouldn't be surprised there. It would eat out Illitch's brain lining if he actually made these tickets available with some convenience to them. I live up in the Bay City area, and I can't be irked into missing work and driving the 2-3 hour trip down to Detroit to buy them. I did it for the home opener, but that's only because I was in the area at the time. Otherwise it's too much of a hassle.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 (edited) s*** KP... i live in Northville about 30mins tops to the Joe... i still refuse to waste gas to drive down there for the chance at getting tickets. If i was guaranteed i would have tickets to warrant an hour round trip i would consider it. I much rather enjoy walking up to Compuware and either turning in a team voucher or hand over $10 for a guaranteed ticket. Flip-check 6 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 what is the deal with 9 dollar seats??? can you still get them?? and how?? i have never seen it on ticketmaster or anything except the comercial If you have the extra $17/seat, I'd put that down for SRO instead. It's the best cheap seat in the house. I do wonder how popular the $9 seats have been though.
jmgriffith 2 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 We're going to our first Wings game in January...I'm so flippin' excited I can't hardly stand it! I got my tix on Stub Hub...It says 7 rows behind the penalty box, so I'm hoping they're good seats! Anyways, we live in Kansas and are flying in the afternoon of the game (pray for good weather!)...but we aren't sure of where to go for a quick bite to eat before the game! I've heard mention of Hockeytown Cafe...Is that a good place to go or does anyone have any good suggestions? We won't have a ton of time between getting out of the airport and the game (probably about 2 to 2 1/2 hours and I'm not even sure how long it will take to get from the airport to the Joe...). Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! --Michelle

If i was guaranteed i would have tickets to warrant an hour round trip i would consider it. I much rather enjoy walking up to Compuware and either turning in a team voucher or hand over $10 for a guaranteed ticket. Exactly what I'm saying. If these tickets were available online, where I could buy them in advance and guarantee myself of going, than maybe you'd see me at more games. But until that happens, you probably won't. Just the ordeal getting there is a huge problem for me. Because of rush-hour traffic, I'd have to leave work pretty early to make it. I-75 is a mess going through cities like Flint and Troy, and that's still a way's out of Detroit. And even if I do make it in time, what's to say that the tickets won't already be sold? I'd be absolutley pissed if I drove down all that way only to not have any tickets left to buy. My car already sucks down gas like you wouldn't believe, so that's another big factor into it. All in all, that's a huge drive down from where I live, as I'd be looking at a 2-3 hour trip, and that's if traffic is good. It's usually not, so it'll probably be even longer. I used to live in Fraser, which was only about a half out-hour away. But because Illitch is cheap, this luxery of having affordable tickets wasn't available to me in years past. In my current location (Bay City) it's nigh near impossible for me to make it on a regular basis. The only reason I was able to oblidge on the home opener is because I was in the area visiting family. We all decided to go, because it was cheap. But if I was wasn't there, I probably wouldn't have gone. Illitch needs to stop being a cheap-ass ***** and makes these tickets available online. If I was sure I'd have tickets to the game, than I find the time to make it down there more often. But because I can't, I really don't want to risk driving all the way down there for nothing. Gizmo 21 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 If they expanded the pool of $9 tickets, I think they'd be worth putting on-line. But, IIRC, there are only 200 of them per game. On-line they'd be gone faster than a "Hannah Montana" ticket.... and people would be complaining that they couldn't get any before others snapped them up. Also, remember that those are the "obstructed view" seats. I've sat in them, and quite frankly, if left with those as the only ticketed seat option... even at $9 I'd pass and buy SRO! Hockeytown Cafe is great atmosphere but you will not get your food quickly, so unless you get there over an hour before gametime I'd avoid it until after the game for a drink. I would suggest parking somewhere near Greektown, there are lots of food choices in that area. Many of the restaurants and bars have free shuttles to the Joe, or you could always take the People Mover.

I think Greektown is the best suggestion. You can park there in a parking garage on Monroe (they are others too do a search and google and google maps) and then take the people mover to the Joe. That's what I would reccommend. Good luck!! And have fun and Go Wings!!!

Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Tickets for January to the end of the season are now on sale for the general public at Ticketmaster. I got 4 Standing Room Only tickets for Janurary 2nd vs. Dallas. I want to get tickets to a game after the trade deadline too, but can wait a bit to get those. I actually like how we aren't selling out every game this year. It's so easy to get tickets. Man when we had Yzerman, Shanny, Fedorov, McCarty, Lapointe, etc. it was such a hassle getting tickets. You had to be online right at 10:00am or you were S.O.L.. You think with all the empty seats people are buying $9 seats to sit in???? That's what I'm doing with SRO. I'll stand for the 1st period, then by the 2nd grab some empty seats in the Lower Bowl.
