Another big test for the Pistons, they're about to face Dallas away from home. Should be a beauty and I get to watch it.

You are the world's biggest jinx :P the Pistons looked awful for about half of that first half. Walter Herrmann was a beast defending Dirk though. Dirk was having his way tll Walter threw him off his game. Could be a useful Dirk-stopper should we end up in the Finals against the Mavs.

Tell me about it!

Yeh very disappointing performance but I took heart in a few things. As you said Herrmann was very impressive when defending Dirk and I thought Maxiell grabbed a few impressive offensive rebounds. I thought Stuckey and Afflalo both looked good at times.

Tayshaun Prince, when's the guy going to do something?

Pretty disappointed that we lost to Boston and Dallas. But beating the Spurs will definitely help things.

Up by 15 at half time so things are looking good. Prince has actually decided to show up today which helps.

Unbelievable that we just got beat by 20+ points. And by the f-ing KNICKS! Isiah must have made some deal with the devil tonight. All I know is, the Pistons will come out guns blazing for the next game. Atleast I sure hope so...

Pistons to sign Ratliff

Bringing back a blast from the waayyyy past. Haven't seen Theo Ratliff around these parts since he was traded to Philly for Stackhouse. That'd be back in the teal horse days. I remember watching him get a triple-double in one game, consisting of points, rebounds, and blocks. Probably not likely to see that the second time around, but the Pistons have been looking for a cheap end-of-the-bench big man, and at the very least he's six free fouls.

I've been negative about the Pistons for a while now but as each day passes I think our chances increase. I'm really liking our bench and for once Flip Saunders is doing a half decent job of managing the minutes. He didn't play Amir Johnson vs the Jazz the other night which was disappointing but at least Saunders came out and said he made a mistake. Stuckey, Johnson, Maxiell, Hayes and now Dixon who put up 14 points on 6-7 shooting. And of course there's Hunter who will play 10 or so minutes a night come playoffs time.

Saunders definitely has this stuff figured out these days. Check out the box score for the Clippers game last night. Tayshaun played 33 minutes (still quite a bit of rest for a starter) and nobody else played more than 26. 26 minutes for a starter is absolutely unheard of. Johnson and Dixon played more minutes off the bench than Dice, who started. That never happens in the League. Ever. This is gonna be easily the freshest, best-rested team in the whole playoffs. And the West is so top-heavy....whoever makes the Finals from the East will have sailed right through with only one really tough series along the way, while the West beats the crap out of each other.

Not too early to keep track of the magic number, either. It's 13 to clinch the division.

Stuckey looked good as a starter. But hopefully Chauncey's "personal matters" have came to an end. Cause we're sure gonna need him wednesday.

Just as BRTD predicted...

Pistons pick up Ratliff

The Detroit Pistons signed Theo Ratliff on Tuesday, bringing the center back to the birthplace of his NBA career after being waived on February 29 by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Ratliff, 34, was signed for a prorated portion of the $1.3 million veteran's minimum after clearing waivers. He played in just 10 contests so far this season after recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, averaging 6.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 21.4 minutes per game.

And with Sheed out with an injured ankle, he gets the start today.

Good article on it. Click me.. Can't say I'm surprised.

Thanks for that, very interesting read.

I can’t believe they sent Marion packing. When I heard Phoenix traded for Shaq I thought they sent some depth players/draft picks, it never occurred to me that they would trade away Marion. Just an awful trade really.

How well has Stuckey been playing lately? Good on him, lets hope he steps up come playoff time and gets a lot of minutes backing up Billups. I know everyone loves Hunter but the rookies, Stuckey and Afflalo, are both really responsible in their own end and should be shown confidence by the coach.

I'm far from a Hunter lover. Stuckey has been playing great. I think if he would have played at a major school he would have been drafted before Connolly Jr. I think Joe D got a good one. This bench should really help us in the playoffs. By the way I love watching Herrman get minutes. His attitude reminds me of Ben back in the day....

I think the sixers will give them some trouble, but no doubt they will advance. I think the trouble will be good for us so early...

The Sixers are very athletic, and they have played great defense against the Pistons in the four games during the regular season. The Pistons scored 83 and 86 points in their two WINS against the Sixers. That being said, the Pistons will be incredibly focused. This team reminds me so much of the 2004 team, especially IF Flip Saunders continues to utilize the bench like he should. Everyone in the world has Boston winning the East, and I don't think the Pistons would have it any other way. The Pistons (the starters especially) have always played better when they are the underdogs, or feel slighted. This year's team might be the most underappreciated 59-win team ever, especially considering many people didn't even think the Pistons would win the Central Division.

The only thing that worries me still about the playoff run is Flip Saunders. I really hope he learned his lesson from 2006 and 2007, but I just don't trust him at all this time of year. When something goes wrong, Flip never has an answer to fix the problem. He has all of the tools to succeed this time around. Play your frickin bench Flip like you did all year!

As GoWings1905 said, a lot of it comes down to Flip. Will he continue to show faith in the bench or will he go back to overusing the starters? They're obviously going to average close to 40 minutes per game, but they need their rest at certain stages of the games. And I for one would rather see Stuckey and Afflalo play over Hunter.

Losing 82-80 with 4:00 left and I'm pissed as hell. There has only been domination this WHOLE game up until now.

I betted on this game. When they were up by 14 in the 3rd, and above the spread I headed out to enjoy the great weather. I was shocked when I came in. Not worried one bit, but still disappointed in them.
