Michigan High School Football Playoffs

While I did not go to the school, I rooted for the Marine City football team because of my brother playing for them. I quickly developed an appreciation for them even after my brother's playing days are done.

Today marks a huge day of accomplishment for the program as today's victory sends them to Ford Field to play in next Friday's finals against Detroit Country Day. Way to go Mariners and I will be rooting for you at home watching on tv friday night. I wish I could go but work reasons have prevented otherwise.

GO MARINERS!!

That they are. It's amazing that Marine City even made it this far as this is their 1st appearance.

Country Day has a running back headed to Notre Dame.

Marine City has a quarterback headed to Cincy.

Marine City making me proud so far. 7-0 at the half with a defensive game. Notre Dame prospect Gray being held to just 20 yards, being gangtackled everytime he touches the ball. Kay has looked sharp on the Mariners scoring drive with a huge pass and good pass selection.

On a side note, they zoomed in to show where marine city was and you could see my house from the satellite images. pretty cool

Go Mariners!!

My school never even makes the playoffs, let alone anything resembling a state final. One playoff appearance in the 11 or 12 years since I started there. We suck :( But at least we stopped scheduling Stevenson and Dakota and the like for Homecoming. Nothing says yay school spirit like getting beat 48-7 for Homecoming.

Amazing game between East Grand Rapids, and Orchard Lake St. Mary!! Five OT's! Glad to see EGR win. I always root for the teams in my area! Also congrads to my alma mater Unity Christian. They made the playoffs for the first time in only 5 years of having High School football.

lol Unity, that is funny. I never would have thought that after seeing our boys in Football uniforms for the first time in my senior year. It didn't help that we had to play against EGR with Kevin Grady and Lowell in the same season to start our first year in football. Good stuff Coach Tibbe!

Well the victory parade was today. Parade went right by my house. They had the players on a hayride wagon and parade concluded at the local knights of columbus hall with meet-n-greet along with autograph sessions with the players and coaches. Just getting to meet and shake hands with the people that captivated this small community was enough. Nearly 2,000 were at the hall today and offically they had 8,000 fans at Ford Field for last Friday's game. Good Job Mariners!!

Wait wait wait.......no Farmington Hills Harrison this year? WTF? We always win the State Championship.

This is horses***. Did Harrington quit?

Someone please explain.

Dakota is the new dynasty these days. (Though it strikes me that you might not even have been living in Michigan when Dakota was founded.)

I go to Country Day. I was in Japan and missed the game unfortunately. It's too bad we lost but it was a good run.

From what I've heard from my friends and the team, coaching was our problem. They kept giving the ball to Jonas and MC was all over him every time. He was playing hurt, too.

Yup. Play calling really was poor from the Country Day side. They gave the ball to Gray everytime despite knowing that Marine City would swarm him. They should have ran a fake or had Gray as a decoy. Gray was still dominate despite being hurt. Scary to think what he could be like when he is healthy.
