Drove from Buffalo to catch Saturday's game. Got in early, stopped in at Cheli's next to Comerica Park. Had read bad reviews online, but had to make the stop. Wife and I were VERY impressed. Chili was basic, nothing special, but we both enjoyed it, and there were several sauces available: Cholula, my most often used at home (this was a surprise!) and Frank's got a laugh out of me because they're in every Buffalo restaurant.

Food was actually really good. Wife got a burger with waffle fries and I got a cajun chicken sandwich. Got there early enough to beat the pre-game crowd. Off to the Joe!

Got to the arena nice and early to walk around and check out all of the souvenirs before the pre-game skate. The pre-game skate is my favorite part. You can just walk down to the glass and watch the guys warm up and stretch. Drapes and Langer had a word or two and shared a laugh before leaving center ice and getting to work.

The game itself was a big letdown, but I honestly barely noticed. Good crowd and had a great time checking out some of the sticks and used jerseys and signed merchandise among other Wings gear.

Definitely will make the drive again this season, schedule permitting.

That is awesome, I will be driving down from London Dec 1st to watch the Wings and the Yotes at the Joe. I also enjoy the pre game skate because you can really get close to the players, and hopefully I can get an autograph or two :)

AND Thank you for the great review of Cheli's Chili because I was planning on going there and it's good to hear that you liked it, im sure I will too.

Always great to head down to the D and watch the Wings play, I usually make the trip once or twice a year, except this year I will see the Wings and Leafs in TO, already have my tickets for that one. :)

Sounds like it was a good trip! My wife and I made a similar trip in May for Game 5 against the Sharks. We're planning a nearly exact copy of your trip for New Years Eve against St. Louis, but we have friends in Toledo who will b e joining us. I am looking forward to Cheli's Chili as our friends have had nothing but excellent things to say about it!

Cheli's downtown is a "bar" his resturant is out in the burbs and offers more of a steak house. Was surprised that the chilli came in a bread bowl. Glad to see you had a good time.

Hi All, first time poster, but been poking around LGW for long time. My favorite spot when a game is on! Zion, we made it down to the Joe on Saturday also. Went to Cheli's, ten of us, it was crowded, but had couple drinks at bar while waiting. I would go again, food was great. Seats at the Joe, not happy. Didn't like sitting in row 21 for $44 and row 22 lot cheaper. (But you learn something everyday.) Playoff game last year sat down in lower bowl, much better. But I was only paying for one ticket, and I was worth it. Ha! (Plus they WON.) Looking forward to someday having a new arena. Been to few Griffins games, the seating is nice. (I know, not as old as the Joe).

Wings/Leafs in Toronto is a brilliant idea.

For those of you who have not gone to Cheli's... we went around 4:30 and beat the crowd... it was busy when we left but we had already eaten and looked around. Gave us plenty of time to get to the Joe when the doors open, so we can walk around and check out merchandise, play with sticks, etc. before the pre-game skate.

For those of you wondering about tickets, we got ours at www.nighttoremembertickets.com. They don't charge the 15% fee that StubHub and other ticket wholesalers do.

We went on New Year's Eve last year, and we may have to do that again... that was a great time, also. We stayed at a hotel right down the street from the Joe.
