HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 My cousin, Sebastian, just got 4 tickets for tomorrow nights game. Of course I am going cause he's amazing and bought me one as well. LOL im really excited, but anyways we just realized it's standing room and we've never had that before. Anyone know what's like to have standing room? Is it a good spot to be in during the game? Can you see everything well? I'm really not a fan of standing during the whole game. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 Standing room is a great area to be IMO, as long as you're willing to stand. The areas are between the upper and lower bowls. It's good you're going with three other people that way at least one person can save the area while others get food, etc. Get there early to safe your spot! Flip-check 6 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 It's the same as last row lower bowl so you're good. I think SR is just fine though. If you overlook the occasional guy in a suit with his date in a skimpy dress fresh from the bar, entering late, and she's standing there like "What?" and he doesn't have much of a clue what's going on either. lfd250 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 It depends where you are. The sides are fine, put the ends and the corners you have to move up to the people seated when the play comes to that end. Besides if you get tired, there's always seats higher up.
hockey&beer 16 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 I usually try to get SR tickets (depends if the wife is going or not). I really like the vantage point and if need be you can hit the troughs and be back before anyone else has even stood up for intermission. The biggest key is to try to get there early. SR is kind of like bleacher seating, JLA calculates how large that an area a person occupies and then simply divides up the space. Let's just say I've been to a couple games where it was a little cozy. You may also get lucky like I have a few times and one of the season ticket holders (8th row) handed me his stubs as he was walking out at the begining of the 3rd. Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 I've been gettiing standing room tickets for about 10 years now - they're great. You are paying about half of what people 10 feet in front of you paid. LOL The only drawbacks are occasionally you will get a really big, burly type that sits in the seats directly in front of you, which sort of blocks some of your view of the ice, and when there's a fight or some other excitement that would cause everyone to stand up, you lose your view of the ice entirely. That's the time when I just look at the jumbotron over center ice. My recommendation? Try to find a standing room spot near a lower bowl stairway...not so many people directly in front of you that way. Of course, as others have mentioned, one of your group has to stay in your spot all night or you risk losing it so if you want to go down and watch the pregame skates, you will have to decide who doesn't get to go. My friend and I just take turns. Same thing for food/drink/potty breaks. We have a good usher in our section that keeps people from walking in front of us while the play is on; some people get angry that they can't go to their seats and we have had a few insults thrown our way, in the vein of "you couldn't afford real seats so why should I be concerned whether you see the game or not?" Sometimes we will reply, sometimes we'll let it go. Depends on who it is and what kind of mood we're in. LOL One bonus to standing room - sometimes when people leave, they will give you their ticket stubs and let you sit in their seats. Over the years I've had seats all over the lower bowl for anywhere from half of the third period to an entire game. We got seats last night with about five minutes left in the second period. When the Wings raised the banner for the 2002 Cup, a man gave us his stubs before the ceremonies even started - he was there with his son and his son got sick so they were leaving. Once, we got seats right behind the player's bench...as we sat down my friend said, "don't look now but Lisa Yzerman is sitting right behind us." Overall, IMO standing room tix are a good deal. I would much rather get them than sit in the upper reaches of the upper bowl for just a few dollars less.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 Standing room was the bomb when it was cheaper then buying an upperbowl ticket... they have since caught on. One problem is that you can't do warmups unless you have someone reserving your spots... but other than that its fine.. i have had them countless times before. Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I just bought (no joke, like 2 minutes ago) SRO tickets for Wednesday January 2nd vs. Dallas. It'll be my 4th time there. Also, I'm planning on going in March as well and will be getting SRO. The best part is, by the 2nd period you can move down to empty seats in the lower bowl. Standing room was the bomb when it was cheaper then buying an upperbowl ticket... they have since caught on. Other than the last few rows (where you can't see all the ice), they still are cheaper. Standing Room is $27, Upper Bowl $44, and the final few rows are $22 It depends where you are. The sides are fine, put the ends and the corners you have to move up to the people seated when the play comes to that end. Besides if you get tired, there's always seats higher up. I found the corners are the best. I was at the side last year and couldn't see half the ice. Maybe it was the people sitting infront of me, not sure. But I've never had problems in the corners.
