Stoll and Torres Healthy Scrathes for Oilers

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Torres is under contract for another 2 seasons beyond this one, and Stoll is overpaid. There's a reason Stoll is being shopped, and Torres isn't worth the additional years left on his contract.

The Wings need balanced scoring threats, but these two won't bring anything to the table the Wings don't already have.

They are healthy scratches because they were on the ice for Pittsburgh's 3rd period goals on Wednesday - he is trying to send them a message, not make them trade bait.

Stoll and Torres are seen as the future of this organization in Edmonton, Lowe isn't just going to give them away.

I can't see much of a downside of looking into Stoll. He put up 68 points as a 23 yr old in his first full NHL season. Is a pretty solid two-way player. Can play the point on the powerplay if need be. Great shot. 2.2 mil is hardly overpaying considering this is the final year of the contract and hes a RFA after this season. Not to mention the cap space we have and the good chance we will not use it.

It all comes down to cost and what they would want in return.

IMO the downside of Stoll is that he's not going to balance out the Wings attack, and Detroit has enough to worry about after this season in regards to cap space. That, and the fact that if he was being used for trade bait, the Wings could get someone better near the deadline to fill their needs. The key in your post is "what they would want in return", because I'm sick of people (not directed at you) thinking we can just throw picks away.

But again, Yzerfan1999 makes a valid point. They're probably healthy scratches to send a message.

I agree they should go after someone better. Especially an older more proven player. It would probably cost them less and wouldn't affect our financial situation after this year as much. Edmonton would want a good young player in return (Filps, Huds) and in the end would just not make our team any better.

Personally I think the only things we should be using as trade bait are one of our defensive prospects and a 2nd rounder. No more. We need our current roster players for depth and Lilja or Sammy won't get us squat as some people here think.

I like Torres, oh and for the person that said all he is willing to trade is D prospects, I agree the few players I would trade aren't worth much value though. Ellis, Quincy, Meech, Lilja, thats about it. But I wouldn't mind having all of them stay either.

f*** Torres!

I second that.... I have not liked the guy since that hit on my man Jason Williams...

Why would the wings want either of them anyways? Sure Stoll can center a second line but we need a consistant score on the second line... Neither Stoll or Torres can add that.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure. It is the Oilers..... They seem to trade everyone that's good on their team.

 Your right, it is the Oilers. It would be great if we could get Stoll or Torres for like a 2nd or a 3rd round pick or something, I just dont see Lowe trading away good young players like them.

First off, Stoll and Torres would probably find suitors in the Eastern conference. I can't imagine Lowe trading with anyone in the West unless they had a deal he really liked.

This is all assuming they are available, which I doubt.

I can't imagine Holland wanting to move anyone off our roster right now, butI think it will be another interesting trade deadline this season.
