I didnt realize that Emmerton was doing so well in the OHL, 35 points wow.

That isn't really that spectacular when you compare it to other players in the OHL. Tavares has near double that total at the moment.

It really sucks to hear about Emmerton, though. He had a pretty solid chance of making the team after playing for Canada in that series they had against the Russians. I got the chance to see Emmerton play in Windsor a week or two ago, and looked great considering the slow start he had.

That sucks.

You know what else sucks? The fact that the Wings gave up Matthais for Bertuzzi. This kid looks like he could be something big.

According to TSN, one scout called Mathias the best all-around player in the CHL.

Looking back, though, Matthias did look expendable at the time, and Bertuzzi could've power-forward who could put us over the top. You can't win em all I guess.

For a guy in his 4th year in the league, 35 points in 27 games is really not that good. It's actually below his production from the previous year and the year before that.

As a comparison, Brett Maclean, who was also a 2nd round pick in the 2007 draft (Emmerton was a 2nd rounder in 2006) has 64 points in 26 games.
