An actual, plausible trade proposal

There is wide speculation that Petr Prucha may be moved from the Big Apple. His destination thus far is not clear. While I still maintain that the Wings are fine as is and a trade is really not necessary, it would be cool to have the kid. Great attitude, great energy, and can get smashed to the ice game in and game out, but he bounces right back up. He also scored 30 goals in his first season, but I think those numbers are unrealistic. He's a 10-15 goal player, but his tenacity is his key asset.

The question is, what does New York need? We'll just call their scoring lines set. They have great defense coming up in Girardi, Stall, and Tyutin, while Malik, Mara, and Rosival are experienced veterans. Henrik Lundqvist in net. Checking line anchored by Avery. Penalty kill set with Betts, Shanahan, Hossa, and Orr. Fighters in Orr, Avery, and Holloweg. What the Hell does this team need?! Why do they want to trade Prucha away?

EDIT: Oops, forgot to make a trade proposal. :)

Girardi and Staal yes fine young defenseman, lots of potential, playing well so far... Rangers have been actively shopping for a physical stay at home defenseman (Adam Foote has been the rumored target as of late) Prucha was said to be part of what they are offering in a package. Rangers spent a large amount of money again for stars (they did this pre salary cap for years - didnt work except for a couple of seasons) and so far it's not meshed well. Jagr is being a baby now that Nylander is gone, best thing for them would be to deal him away - but who would take his salary?

I think you nailed it on the head. While their D has been playing well they don't really have a strong stay at home type. And if they are going to improve it's on the blueline.

Sather continues to drive that team away from a Cup. Instead of spending $7M a year on Gomez they should have kept Nylander for a fraction of that. He and Jagr had great chemistry and if this new Cup era has taught anyone (including fans) it's that you must keep peices, that are already meshed, together. Letting Nylander walk for a 60 point centre was rediculous and it's amazing that everyday-fans could see this, but Sather couldn't.

I'm still in the camp that believes the Wings will deal for a defensman and it'll probably be a 5th/6th guy. I know that it was just reported that Blake will waive his NTC if it's to the right team, but I don't know what the Wings would have to give up in return.

If I'm the Kings I know I can ask for a King's Ransom (pun intended) and I don't know if the Wings would or should part with players like Flip, Hudler or even Lebda. Lebda is the most expendable player on the team with guys like Quincy, Meech and Ericsson coming up. But Lebda is special in that he's a very dependable 5th/6th dman and at rock bottom prices.

In today's NHL every team is basically building and spending around a small core of players and filling the rest with cheap younger players. Lebda fits that hole perfectly.

Saying all of that, I wouldn't mind seeing Prucha in a Wings jersey. I don't think his 30 goal season was a fluke and I see him fitting in well with the top 2 lines.

But I'd rather see the team get more physical on the back end. And if we're going to get rid of some key players, Rob Blake would be first on my list. He'd be tremendous in our lineup. But I wouldn't let Filp or Hudler go in his place.

Alright, how about Lilja for Lundqvist? With a great stay at home defenseman like Lilja, they won't need a top notch goalie anymore right?

:D

To piggy back that idea, since the wings will be trading for Henrik they will no longer need Howard, the wings trade him to the Caps for AO and the Caps agree to pay half of AO's salary. Plus they trade Kolzig to Tampa for St. Louis and Lecavalier, they throw Vinny in as a throw in to the deal to make the wings accept the deal!

I've had a few too many drinks this morning to piece all that out, but it looks good on its face. But what would you do with Sammy now that we'd have all those stars? We can't let an "Elite" talent like him rot on the 4th line.

Oh sorry, the wings traded him to ANA for Beauchemin, Perry, Moen, a first and 2nd next year, and and autographed copy of the new book called, "Playing in the pond with my brother" written by the Neidermayer brothers!!

I've heard that they were going for a more mobile defenseman, like Brett Clark of Colorado.

Jagr was being a baby, but has been excellent lately (like 05-06 excellent). 13 points in 9 games, and has looked even better than his numbers say.

Seems to me that everyone on here has only seen Prucha play once or twice (he has only played the Wings once).

Some say that his 30 goals was a fluke, some say it was not. The bottom line is that he has to have PP time to get 30 goals, which he only had in his first season, and he wouldn't be getting any time here. Hence my 15 goal prediction.

As for someone who can score in the playoffs- again, needs PP time. When he had time on the powerplay in his first playoffs, he was (I think) one of two Rangers to score in their four games.

Finally, he can hit, he does not get pushed around (at all!), and he is one of the better players in the NHL at getting takeaways. He also kills penalties.

Besides, he's super cheap and has a great attitude.
