GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 fixed I'd rather have Sammy than Drake. He's a right handed shot and he can score, although not as well as some here would wish. All Drake gives us is fighting, and it's embarassing enough that the Wings need a 40 year old to fight for everyone else. We don't need his penalty killing, we get enough of that already. The first line obviously works great. However i dont see flip hudler and cleary on their own stepping up, they need someone like datsyuk out there to take charge. Second line i can easily see them outproduce the first, again i just like the make up of the line. You got three different types of players that should work extremely well together. Zetty flyin around the zone, hudler settin up plays, and homer in the middle getting the garbage. As for the third and forth lines, I wouldnt mind seeing franzen with sammy maybe kopecky in the middle. All three of these players have the ability to put the puck in the net and i think if they could get some chemistry going could produce a decent amount of points. The problem with having Downey on the grind line is that the grind line will play against the other team's top lines. I don't think Downey is good enough defensively to be able to handle that load. Plus, Babcock would never give him that much icetime. Also, I don't think Sammy fits in anywhere. He's not a top 6 forward, and he's not a 3rd or 4th line guy either. Babs will make Zetterberg and Hudler play with Samuelsson for some reason. I think the Maltby, Draper, Cleary line will run again. Franzen will play with Kopecky and one of the scrubs (Drake?). Filppula - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Hudler - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Maltby - Draper - Cleary Drake - Franzen - Kopecky I guess Babcock's lines will look a bit like that but with Hudler getting himself on the fourth line once in a while. I totally agree. However, Drake should be in their over Kopecky. Drake brings more to the table at this point. So really it will be Maltby over Kopecky. In all seriousness throw Sammy on the 3rd. put Kopecky on the 4th.. Scratch Drake.. 1- That unit, has been working amazingly together, Why split it up? 2- With Homer screening the goalie, no reason Zette and Rex cant get thangs poppin. 3- Kopecky is a better player than Drake.. But the other side of my brain says, Those are damn good looking lines. I would switch Kopecky and Drake around though. Kopecky has alot more to offer than DDrake does.
