In my opinion we'll most likely get Blake, most other teams are doing to good to trade off a piece unless their looking to free up cap space for the future. With that said, if we don't get Foppa, it'll most likely be someone from a team not close to making the play offs. The worst teams right now are LA, Tampa, Edmonton, Florida, and Buffalo based on points. My questions are when will this happen because I'm getting anxious, how likely is Foppa coming here, and where do these rumors come from? By the way, make sure you read the "experts two cents" underneath the article. My two cents are, I don't want Sundin, I'd rather watch another team trade off their future for a rental. I have nothing against older players so as long as they come cheap I'd be happy. As long as we have ZDH, Flip, Cleary, Franzen, and Downey, I'd be willing to give up a young active player. I think mostly any trade Kenny makes will be good as long as it doesn't take away from our foundation. daniel1 32 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Mmmm, Prospal would be a good pickup and at only 1.9m allows for plenty of room should we have a chance at Foote or Blake. Prospal might also be a guy to trade and sign seeing as how he puts up decent numbers for a reasonable salary. He would probably perform well with Flip and Cleary on the second line. He's only 32 so a 2 year deal at 1.7 sounds about right. If we did trade for him it would also make Hudler expendable as trade bait for Foote or Blake. Booster313 138 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 I like the idea of Hossa I am just skeptical that we can get him and resign him and keep Z. On the cheaper side I wouldn't mind seeing Fed's back here. Blake would be a nice addition on the blueline. Don't forget Mac as well. I am still holding out some hope there. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Im starting to warm up to the Blake addition. Apparently, hes been playing very well over the last 20 games and has been a hitting machine. As long as he isnt the guy planning on making the rushes up the ice, I wouldnt mind seeing him here. Especially since he has a NTC which bascially allows him to decide where hes going. I think adding a guy like Blake would keep a combination of Lilja,Chelios and Ledba as our 5th and 6th D-men,minimizing the damage they do and keeping their minutes down. It would also provide experienced depth. Do you really think Chris is a liability? I think Lilja and Lebda may be a bit but would'nt we benefit from some scoring or an enforcer a little bit more? I just dont think Chelie can put in much more than 15 mins per night at this point. Blake in his prime was one of the best hitting defenseman in the world,he picks his spots more now. Hes not a fighter. I agree we could use maybe one more top 6 forward but I keep thinking back to last year when we had those injuries on defense. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He can definitely be a liablity and has made plenty of mistakes this season that have been overlooked. i love the guy and im not bagging on him, but having a little more defensive depth is key. id prefer foote, but assuming Blake has improved his game a bit (maybe to convince the Wings that hes worth picking up?), I dont see why not. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Chelios has also been one of the key players for this team. He was invaluable last year in the playoffs. He plays a small role on the team until the Wings are in a critical spot, and then they pull him out. He's like their secret weapon. The guy makes less mistakes than most defensemen, and against most of the players in the league he's great. Blake was known for big hits, but in Colorado he was prone to getting out of position when attempting them. Adam Foote saved his bacon many times during his stint with the Crapalanche. He had / has a booming shot from the point , was a Norris candidate for many years. Shell of his former self now, will be overpriced at the deadline. I think Anaheim's core beats ours. After Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, ours drops off somewhat. Chelios is consistant, but do you depend on him to play 20 minutes a night in the playoffs ? He is a physical freak of nature, but can he play at a consistant level during the playoff grind? They will need to add someone that will have that physical style, we have enough of the finesse type. It seems that recently he is getting beat more and more, and I think if we could pick someone up to cut down his min. I would be fine with that. I really don't know about Blake though, I just don't want us to have to basically have a whole new team come play off time. People talking about picking up Blake and Foppa, or Feds, Hossa, Mac. How many new faces do you want on a team that is already number 1? I'm for adding maybe one person and Foppa or Mac if he got back to his former self; big if.
