Pronger stumbled midway through the fight, and if Cleary knew what the hell he was doing, he could have sent Pronger to ******* la la land with his head down like that. Well, I've always been waiting for Cleary to fight, and now I hope I never see it happen again. Pronger is a ******* spotpicker, though, but what do you expect? How can you be disappointed in Cleary? What would you do if you got gauged in the eye, couldn't see clearly, and were bleeding profusely? Would you continue the fight? I think not. Which is exactly why he 'turtled' because if he didn't do that then Chrissy would of popped him in the eye and god knows what damage that would of done.. There, another common ground we stand on... if all else falls by the wayside we have this at least hahaha Hell, we got plenty we agree about....like how great I am and how much everyone here appreciates GST's wisdom and insight (that would be called a joke my good friends) You should see me talk Wings with my non hockey friends. I'm like a proud parent spouting off win/loss records, combined special teams rankings, shot differentials, etc.... I'm no fair weather wings fan. You'd be like, "who is this guy and what did you do with GST?" I'm a wings slappy in those instances. You'll just never find me in the center of the rah, rah, let's toot our own horns parade around here. I try to always keep level headed about how good I think we are when i'm talking to other people who know the game. If I joined in on all the "how great we are" s*** around here. I'd have to check myself into a clinic after we lost a playoff series or something as I wouldnt' be able to handle the depression. Clarkson got split open the other night fighting Downie and it only pissed him off even more and made him throw more punches. Fighters fight. Danny Boy's got heart. I don't know about brains though (anyone remember when he tried to go with Wade Belak?) If its in you to fight you aren't going to be stopped by much other than a jaw shifting haymaker that puts your lights out or a serious eye injury. What happened to Danny's eye happened right at the start. He went ahead and fought because the "eye gouge" wasn't as bad as you make it sound. He turtled because he lost the advantage and his brains kicked in and he did the right thing. Danny would get his clock cleaned the longer he tried to go with Pronger. No point in getting beat up for no good reason. Danny made a stand, made his point and didn't try to push his luck. He didn't turtle because of his eye. Me and a friend of mine were talking and we both thought Pronger got the eye gouge in, because he didn't land any really punches, especially after getting off the ice. I hate Pronger. You could pause a thousand fights right at that same moment where contact is made and I guarantee you'd see the same thing, somebody's hand perilously close to the other guy's face. When you go in to grab somebody by the neck they're moving. They don't just sit there. The natural tendency when somebody's fist/hand comes at you is to lower your head or scrunch your neck, which is going to put your face where your neck was and then you run the risk of that hand whapping you in the face. The way he was doing it is the way you break your fingers. If he wanted to he'd have done it close fisted and used the end of his thumb or applied a knife hand strike tae kwon do style. it was an attempted grab and that's the end of it! You guys hate Pronger and so do I. At least i'm rationable about what transpired. If this was such an atrocious move (which deliberate eye gouging would be) then why isn't the NHL looking into it? They just suspended Kovalchuk so don't give me the superstar argument. But hey, this still image is just such good evidence I don't know why I bother. Homers by the way, run the video again and lo and behold, what's that Pronger's got in his left hand? Oh, that'd be cleary's jersey by the neck. I guess he just lucked into that. Chris Pronger: "ok, first we'll square off, then i'll go for the patented eye gouge that so many fighters employ and then i'll grab his jersey by the neck...yeah, that's what i'll do!" 5 pages of commentary on hockeyfights.com and 2 people think Pronger tried to deliberately gouge Danny. Hell, nobody even replied to the accusations as I guess they found them to be without merit. nuff said, i'm tired of talking about chris pronger. you wanna see balls and no brains find the clip of Danny boy trying to fight, if you want to call it that, Wade Belak.
