You play your ass off and make a difference then you deserve to get more PT and if that means someone else who's not playing as good at the moment is going to see a diminish in their ice time then so be it. Babs rewards his players when putting an effort like Tommy did. He'll get more ice time. Especially if he keeps it up. I'll still choose to differ with you. Babs has made him a healthy scratch this year, and he only gets about 6 - 7 1/2 min. a game. The effort you refer to, is that the ducks game? That ONE GAME that he played like he should. A common example I use is Patty Falloon, he had a couple good games in his day, but like Kopecky, tended to drift and not do a whole lot during games. If he has a good game, great more trade value for him, but he doesnt deserve more time, espicially since Zetterberg is coming back after the break and Danny is fine. If not this year then the next but he will be traded just like J-willy for his lack of physical play. Anyone remember how many times Babs told Williams to finish his checks, hit, go to the net. I remember hearing it in interviews, reading it in the Freep, on Mlive. Then he got traded I don't think it was a coincidence. If Kopecky continues to play the passive style he is choosing to play many nights his ass is gone. I agree, but he wont be traded this year. Unless he steps up his physical play (because IMO that is pretty much all he is good for) I dont see him being a wing for very long. I was thinking at the time I wrote my comment he had 2 years in but I forgot that he broke his collar bone against Chicago. So I would say it's possible this year but I'd lean more toward next year. up2here 41 Report post Posted January 27, 2008 When I made this topic it was under the impression that Cleary may miss a few games and it was Cleary's ice time that I thought should go to Kopecky. I want to emphatically state that I do no think Kopecky deserves more ice time than any of our top 6 forwards.Sure has been a nice debate though...... TNBT 3 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 I'm someone who has been high on Kopecky since his AHL days, and I had visions of him becoming a 1st or 2nd line power forward when he bulks up a bit. My girl however has seen every game and she doesn't see that as likely. Even if he only ends up as a 3rd liner, I hope he can bring some physical play and a scoring touch on a more consistent basis.
