yeah, we are starting to get some breaks and timely hitting, plus how awesome was our pen, especially Fossum tonight? 6 K's? Now all we need is for the sox to lose a few games and we will be right back in it

The Tigers are going backwards now (again). They really needed to win, or at least split this series with the Twins. It's the middle of July and the Tigers are eight games out, while providing no evidence that they can consistently beat any teams in the Central Division. I've never seen a more frustrating baseball team to watch. At least we knew what was coming with the 119-loss teams.

By the way, why the hell does Sheffield still play baseball? Where is that one "fan" on here who was going nuts over Sheff when he had one game-winning hit? I heard boos again today at Comerica Park for Sheff, and rightfully so. When your batting average is lower than Brandon Inge's, that is downright awful.

:crybaby: can't believe they're finally tearing down the old stadium. Every time they tear down a section of it, they tear down a piece of memory lane....

- the center field bleachers where our baseball team took a team trip to see a game, and there was nobody there but us

- same section only in the halls, where my baseball camp instructor took us to meet Cecil Fielder

- first base side where I saw my first ballgame

- third base side upper deck where I saw Nolan Ryan pitch

and so much more.....

With any luck, Ernie Harwell's group will be successful in raising the money they need to save the dugout-to-dugout section. And I'm positively thrilled that the city will save the field, flagpole, and foul poles.

Inge is our 3B. He is absolutely the best fielder we have and he should not be behind the plate. Trade Renteria for some pen help, put Guillen back at SS for the rest of this season, and put Inge back in full time. He is too good to be sitting on the bench. His bat seems to be coming along with his limited playing time, but his glove has saved us in 2 of the last 4 games. Get it done Dave!

I'm by no means an Inge fan, but I actually like your idea. For starters, getting rid of Renteria would be the best reason to make this move. Is it bad to point out Jair Jurrjens is 9-4 with a 3.00 ERA in Atlanta, and the Tigers lack starting pitching depth? The Renteria trade has turned out horrible. The Tigers really need another starter or a left-handed bat at the deadline.

If it were up to me, I would actually get rid of Renteria and start Santiago at shortstop. Santiago is outstanding defensively, and his range at shortstop would take some pressure off Guillen at third base. Not to mention, Santiago has hit pretty well in his limited playing time this season. The Tigers can afford to sacrifice a little offense in their lineup each night to shore up their lackluster defense.

Lastly, quit playing Sheffield. The guy has had plenty of chances to perform, and he clearly can't hit the baseball like he used to. We keep waiting for the "break out", but it's time to just end it with Sheff. Keep Joyce in left field, and Thames as the designated hitter. I suppose the only time to use Sheff would be against lefties, as opposed to keeping Joyce in.

This is what I would like to see on most nights...

1. CF - Granderson

2. 2B - Polanco

3. 3B - Guillen

4. RF - Maggs

5. 1B - Cabrera

6. LF - Joyce

7. DH - Thames

8. C - Pudge

9. SS - Santiago

Another "stellar" performance by Jones. single to put the tying run on and allows a home run and blows it again.

When is Dombrowski going to dump this pathetic excuse for a "closer".

Had a perfect chance to move up closer to the White Sox and he blows the save, and now instead of gaining ground, we lost a game.

SOMEBODY RUN JONES OUT OF TOWN... I CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF HIS CRAP!!!!

Of course, it was on Zumaya's watch that the Sox scored half their runs......

Still had a lead going into the 9th with nobody on... Jones blew it again.

I'm getting real tired of this.

If this was the Wings, Holland would have done something by now.

they made him a catcher, he was infield and relief pitcher when he was in college. he is a fielder by nature, they put him behind the plate because of his arm, and the fact that they had no other catchers at the time

What does it matter about Inge, if anything it's bad that he will be full-time. He is still batting .227. But, Tigers needed bullpen help, and Farnsworth is exactly that and then some. I am taking the hit of playing Inge full-time if Farnsworth is going to be the closer.

It's too bad Pudge had to go, especially to the Yankees. I was pretty shocked to read about it. But it saves a tough decision in the offseason. Next time the Yankees are in town, I hope Tigers fans stand and give Pudge the cheer he deserves. We owe him that much for taking a chance on us when the Tigers had hit absolute bottom and had just grabbed a shovel.

I just hate the idea of Inge as the full-time catcher. He is a terrible hitter when catching.
