WingsFan2008 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 Ok, true manly NHLers will not wear this. Besides, I think a TRUE NHLer would play w/o helmet like in the old days. Goalies should also play heltmetless.

Yzermaniac192005 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 Haha yeah right...a helmet saved my life playing hockey and I guarantee its saved many of these guys as well. Neck guards though...I just don't see it happening. Maybe they should all start wearing those hang down guards like goalies wear
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 Sure...and goalies shouldn't wear pads either. Not fair to have all that extra padding taking up more of the net.

At least you could still ask Gordie and Scotty how they were doing afterwards.

imisssergei 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 This pretty much sums up how I feel. However, I do disagree with forcing the new comers to wear neckguards. It's no different than the requiring batters to wear cages on their helmets. It's a knee-jerk reaction.

auxlepli 17 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 The point is the appeal of pro sports is the off chance that someone just might get killed that night. That's why we watch it! Many automobile racing fans feel that way I'm sure. Anyway I agree with JR. "It was unfortunate, but you can't protect against everything."
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 I've actually thought about starting to wear a neck guard, there's one guy on my team who does.
Opie 308 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 Sirdrake, did you lose your other username's password, and you forgot to ask what is to stop Chris Chelios from slashing the throats of all the other players so the wings can win the cup!
Opie 308 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 Many automobile racing fans feel that way I'm sure. Anyway I agree with JR. "It was unfortunate, but you can't protect against everything." The problem is that this is preventable by a small un-intrusive piece of material. [sarcasm] It is not like they would be asking the guys to wear heated blades, oh you say they tossed that idea around, or make them wear restrictive uniforms that weren't tested to see if they trap moisture. What you say they tried that too. Hmmmm, well let see it is not like they are asking them to skate on gelatin, there we go they haven't tried that yet right! [/sarcasm] BTW, we need some sort or form for this site so that when people are sarcastic they can tag it like above and the display, much like when quoting or bolding) will look different so that people know you are sarcastic!!
