awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Hey brother, I sent a few votes in Kingsville's direction. Just out of curiosity where is K-Ville in respect to London?? What's the population?? I ask a lot of questions because I have always had a burning desire to become part of a community like this, a small town where everyone comes together around the greatest game in the world. I live in London, so it's more of a big city, a University city, where there is no common uniting factor such as this. I'm just a kid still (19) and I can very much see myself becoming integrated into a community like this somewhere down the line. At least that is my hope. Anyways, great stuff, and good luck with the competition. (PS. You won me over with your avatar. Anchorman is literally my favourite movie of all time, not just comedy, but movie. If I had my own personal Oscars, it would have a clean sweep of every single category, no question.) Edited February 18, 2008 by awingsincebirth

That's correct. And thanks for doing this! Every vote is appreciated. We're definitely the underdog in this contest. One thing I love about our little hamlet is that even though we live in a very mild tempered area, a lot of residence still try their best to build a backyard rink. I did this year for my 4-year old. And even though I've spent more time manacuring it and watching rain fall on it, it's still been well worth it. My son loves it and I have to peel him off of there when it's time to come in the house.

Kingsville is about 1.5 hours southwest of London (and about 15 minutes West of Leamington where Darren McCarty grew up). The official population is 21,000 but that's kind of misleading. About 10 years ago we almalgamated with some small farming communites nearby to pump our population up. The actual town has about 6,000 people living in it. I love this little town and the arena really does bring the community closer together. We're going up against Huntsville which is a great hockey community itself. But like a lot of other northern towns they have the benefit of much colder weather so they can take the sport outdoors for months at a time. Our climate is very similar to Detroit's in that our average temp is above freezing throughout most of the winter. So we really depend on the arena to get kids and adults involved with the sport. Kingsville definitely isn't for everyone. It's a quiet small town with nothing really going on. But that's why I love it. It's safe, clean, has excellent schools and sporting facilities. Everything you need to raise a family. Again, thanks to you and anyone else that can lend a hand. P.S. Anchorman is in my top 5 comedies of all time and definitely in the top 10 movies of all time. I have watched it over 100 times and will continue to watch it until I die. Ron Burgendy is 'the balls'. Edited February 18, 2008 by Hank

Okay, so that's probably somewhere in between Chatham and Windsor then, I know a bunch of people from those two cities and go there quite often. Good stuff. Kingsville is a great little Wings town, right next door to Leamington, the home of Darren McCarty! Which I spent alot of 97 and 98 summers going to jose's noodle factory just to see the chalk drawings of mccarty all over the place, including the famous turtling of claude the fraud. go Kingsville! a vote for kingsville is the closest you can get to voting for the wings. Hope you guys win. Have my vote!

Hope you guys win. Have my vote! Hahaha! That's hilarious that you referenced Jose's. You should see it now. They've made it far more chic. Beers cost $5.00 and all the great Wings chalk drawings have been replaced with aquariums. Any Canadian town is going to have Leaf fans but I'd say it's at least 50-50 in Kingsville for Wings. Thanks again for the votes guys! You're the best!

The Secret 304 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 My vote is in for Kingsville although this was hard for me to do. See, I am originally from Windsor, home of the one and only Jamieson Spineless Jellyfish... Anyway, I worked with a guy from Kingsville. He was, how shall I say, well he was a tad bit obnoxious and smelled horribly bad but he was also a big Wings fan and a good father. I think his name was Farmer Henry!? Anyway, here's to a new rink for the Kingsville Stinky Henry's.
