Sundin will only waive no trade if 3 things happen

I just heard on Hardcore Hockey Talk on The Score that they were informed Sundin will only be traded if:

1. The Leafs approach him to waive his NTC

2. He gets a 2 year extension worth about 5mil per

3. It's to Detroit

It's kind of hard for me to believe this, because if Mats has been so persistent about not wanting to leave Toronto like the media has portrayed him to be, why would HE want a two year deal? He could obviously just go back to Toronto after the year is over. Also, $5mil seems a bit much....I would say $4mil would be fair.

Uh, the Wings, seeins'how that's the only team he'd accept a trade to. Under these alleged conditions, anyway. Doesn't really matter if the Leafs give him the extension if they trade him afterwards.

Well....I've never heard anything that has suggested that Mats would only be willing to be traded to one team.

I believe he is willing to be traded to maybe four teams at max.

Of course, Sundin won't say anything publicly about being traded anywhere, so anything regarding a trade is purely speculation.

The rumours are that Anaheim is the closest to landing Sundin, for a package including Bobby Ryan, though the Leafs would like to expand on the deal so that they could land the Edmonton 1st rounder.

I also am very doubtful that Mats wants to sign a two-year deal with anybody. He's said that he will decide once the season is over if he wants to play next year. He's certainly not going to sign an extension in a city that he knows little about.

Also, this makes it sound like it could be true...

Mats Sundin: Has a no-trade clause ... Insists he doesn't want to leave ... Has drawn significant interest around the league ... Boston Globe reported two NHL GMs claim Sundin would waive his no-trade clause to go to the ideal team, likely the Red Wings ... Ducks reportedly among other teams to show interest ... Would net the Leafs the most lucrative return of any player, likely a top-ranked prospect and at least one first-round pick as part of a package ... A pending unrestricted free agent, he could be asked to sign an extension by his new team should he agree to a move.
