Sundin will only waive no trade if 3 things happen

...well, does that mean he only wants to play for Detroit if traded? Yay!

...he wants a two year extension to stay here for two years after we win the Cup this year? Yay!

...$5 million per year is worth it. I would pay him the money, but it all depends what Toronto wants in return...

...Sundin @ $5 million per year. Get Fedorov and re-sign him at $1.5 million per year...

...get some defensive depth (no big names) and hold on for the ride!!!

...next year, Kindl or Ericsson could make their debut. Meech and Quincey should have jobs and maybe Captain America will stay on for another to take them under his wing...

Yeah those are all fair arguments. I was just kind of playing devils advocate, even though I truly do want Sundin more, I still would love to see Hossa play for Motown too. I was just kind of under the impression that people on this site wanted players who were more closely fitted to Mats' mould rather than Marian's (Solid skilled forward who can hold his own in the corners etc. VS. another "soft" European forward) - and yes I am aware that they are both European but who is stronger on the boards or going hard to the net, you know what I mean?

Like I said in another thread either are welcomed additions to the team and will help. But people have been complaining about secondary scoring for however long. Hossa is just that. And it's really an insult to Hossa by saying he is secondary scoring.

i dunno if i include Kronwall in this package.

and say Sundin plays at most two more years. that's basically a glorified rental giving up Hudler (take him for what you will ) and Kronwall who is coming into his own...

i dunooooo!!

Sounds good to me, but what makes you so certain its only Detroit? I personally feel that the sticking point is that Holland would want to have a 1-2 year extension with Detroit locked-up as part of the trade, and that is something Sundin won't probably do.

I also think in the back of my mind that most likely Detroit will trade with Tampa Bay for Vinny Prospal and with the KIngs for Stuart. Hossa will go to some team that spends the moon and with Forsberg out of the picture now that could be a lot of teams, but not Detroit. Also, I don't think Sundin will go anywhere.......he will stay in Toronto.

 Did you not read the original post? Here's the short version: Leafs must approach him about trade clause, he gets two year extension @ $5 million and the team MUST BE DETROIT...

...if you still aren't sure, go back to the original post...

I believe the original post to be purely speculation. I don't believe he's restricted himself to one team and I certainly don't believe he wants a two-year extension, even with Toronto.

Hossa's no grinder, but he definitely knows how to use his size. And that's not in the Robert Lang sense -- if Hossa gets rolling, he's practically impossible to contain. Throw in his shifty moves and you've got trouble for any defender out there.

...Kronwall is coming into his own, you're right, but would you give up Hudler and Kronwall for a Stanley Cup? Maybe 2? Sure you'd be giving up a lot of potential, but look at who is waiting in the minors with a lot of potential too! Kindl, Ericsson, Abdelkader, Emmerton and Helm to name a few. The three forwards I mentioned could come in a replace Hudler minutes with no problem if needed. But, if we have Sundin for 2 more years and Fedorov for the rest of his career and maybe another forward come July 1st (Rolsten(sp) maybe) then we really won't miss Hudler or Kopecky or Kronwall. I'd hate to trade Kronwall too, but you have to give up something, we all hated to get rid of Kozlov but it did help bring us another Cup...

...just curious, WTF happened to all the Fabian Brunnstrom talk? It seemed like for about a week every team wanted him, now we hear nothing about him, did he choose a team? Ok, back to your regularly scheduled topic...

...I'd take Sundin for this plus 2 years for sure, that makes him NOT a rental, no more than Brett Hull or Luc were. Do Holland, get him here NOW! Then go out and shore up your D and get wait to get Feds on July 1st...

He told all the teams to back-off until his SEL season is over, at which time he'll sign with whoever he wants to sign with.

I was really responding to the person I quoted in my post, as far as the original post is concerned, I really question its authenticity........too detailed, when $$'s are mentioned in a rumor for a 2 year contract, sounds fishy too me. Sorry for the confusion and I can understand why you read my post the way you did.

If you want to know what I really think will happen read my last paragraph, if unsure, go back and read it again. Cheers!! ;)

If the Wings could get both Sundin and Hossa (as well as have them re-sign extensions with them) and have to give both Filppula and Hudler...would it be worth it?

Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Holmstrom

Cleary/Sundin/Hossa

Maltby/Draper/Franzen

who cares?

2 strong scoring lines and a shutdown checking line.

Nah I leave that for the Laffs fans. They live in it.

I thought this thread was all about Fantasy Land trade scenarios. You mean it isn't? Realistically Holland will likely get Prospal and Stuart. If Stuart re-signs in LA then Holland maybe goes after a guy like Kalinin.

if you go check the hossa thread, you will see landing either hossa or sundin under the cap is possible, it is broken down number by number there. I fail to see how this is some dream trade land

...so in 2009-2010 our team would consist of Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Lidstrom/Hossa & Sundin because they would suck up all our cap space...

...that would be a pretty good 5 man unit, Datsyuk could prolly play defense with Lidstrom, eh? I wonder in the NHL would allow us to turn our net around and make the opposing players bank the puck in to score since we couldn't afford a goal-tender...

Ok so let me get this straight. I throw out a scenario where the Wings would get both Sundin and Hossa. And I am living in technicolour. So now you come back and tell me that is is quite possible. I am fully aware the Wings have around $14.5 in full season Cap space.

Are you complaining for the sake of complaining? Enlighten me.

If you learned to read, you would see that i stated landing either Sundin or Hossa, not both. I never claimed we could sign both.

I guess the Wings would have to stop developing players and fold the team. Yeah that is what would happen. The Cap is increasing as well but that does not matter. Fold the team. The Wings do not want stars here.
