awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Now, I'm pretty sure that Hossa is going to go to Montreal, at least all the signs are pointing that way. However, nobody has really brought up this point: Hossa has made it clear that he wants to go to a team that is a consistent Stanley Cup contender. Well, Montreal missed the playoffs, and in recent history, I can't really ever thinking of them being a legitimate contender. They weren't really supposed to do anything this year either, and I really don't consider them to be much of a threat, with or without Hossa this year. However, I assume that Hossa doesn't really have control over the team he is traded to, only the team that he signs an extension with. On TSN, they seem to think that he will be a rental for Montreal or Ottawa (who I don't think are interested at all). Whatever. Also, for the post I read earlier, I would like to have Staios on our team as well. And I rememver reading that Holland was at a Edmonton game last week, so who knows. But who will the forward be?? I have no idea. But if Holland doesn't trade for a top 6 forward, I will be PISSED.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 His equipment is going to stay there too, in that building. I think they want him worse then anyone else.

So if tries to get one but no one wants anything that the wings have or they want more than what Holland is willing to give up, it's his fault? Of course, TSN analysts having an orgasm on the deadline show over how much a favorite Anaheim is to repeat... Well they are the favorite. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I wouldn't mind Hal Gill in all honesty. For being on a crud team he has 20 points which is 8 above the NHL average and he brings toughness that we lack. 6'7" and fights and still produces. I'd take him over Lillypad and Lebs. jvxp 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Why would you pt your description the way you did.. so deceiving.. I didn't mean to be deceiving. I was right on Bertuzzi last year. The Wings seem to get someone that we don't expect. The top players mentioned by the Media would take to much to get. We would have to give up alot. So what does Detroit do? They get someone that the media has not mentioned.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 As a last resort and as a replacement for Lebda on the #3 pair with Chelios and just to add depth in general, I'd take him, if the price is right. He sure can clear a crease.

As of right now I don't think there is a top six to be had that will fit our system for what we are willing to give up. After hearing that Franzen, Val, and our top prospects are untouchable I resolved to be at ease. I think we have a great shot reguardless, but would love to get better. If we add a not top six forward I would like to get another gritty guy that allows Franzen and Cleary to stay on the second line.

Theyre a contender..

Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I read that the Jackets are shopping Klesla. I'd rather have him, but his contract has some term left on it. Gill would be nice if Babs can bring out a bit of a mean streak in him.
awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Hey my man, I didn't say I was going to be reasonable about it. However, cummon, Philly got Prospal for Picard and a conditional 2nd or 3rd. Prospal is a top 6 guy. If that is what it takes to get a top 6 guy, then we have enough to get one. I honestly think that Holland is thinking more out of the box then any of us are expecting, but I could be entirely wrong.

Not only that but Gainey said "We traded for a rental named Kovalev 4 years ago and he didnt go anywhere" SO don't count an estension out either... BTW Barnaby and Panger take Lids over Pronger... GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 You'd think that after Uwe Krupp and Cory Cross Holland would learn that size doesn't necessarily mean physicality. I guess Gill is more physical than any of our defenseman, so it wouldn't be a bad move, but it doesn't make us the top Cup contender by any stretch.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Of course, TSN analysts having an orgasm on the deadline show over how much a favorite Anaheim is to repeat... Well, the Ducks added Niedermayer and Selanne. The Wings added....McCarty. Dallas adds Richards Anaheim adds Selanne and Niedermayer Montreal adds Hossa Ottawa adds Stillman and Commodore Right...Id say Detroit is THIRD in line in terms of the Stanley Cup favorites. And thats just in the West..If Dallas adds Richards, Detroit takes a backseat to either of those two..

They have to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs before they get any fear from me. Their stars (no pun intended) have a way of disappearing in big games. Im right with you...I wouldnt expect to see something that nobody has really thought of. So far, Campbell hasnt gone anywhere. Rumors say San Jose, but the Campbell to Detriot rumors are starting to pick up...Im not too excited about Campbell, but jesus Id be ecstatic if we landed Stafford in that deal..
