Unlike Downie, Avery can actually play and score. If there is a comparison here, no contest. If Brett Hull likes the guy, I like him too. He drives other teams fricking nuts and it adds a whole new dimension to the game. Guys got grit and a personality yet is not a Tootoo slime ball. I'd take him back in a heartbeat, drama and all.

That said, after gravedigging a bit I found an example of your e-GM skills. No offense. I just disagree with what your attitude tends to be on the future and on the intangibles, just as I certainly disagreed back when with what you were saying about Datsyuk. Other variables than simply points go into the equation.

At the time, a 7 year deal looked crazy to me, and Datsyuk hadnt proven anything. Then he went out and played great in the playoffs and I acknowledged that. Plus now there are 12 and 14 year deals out there and Datsyuk $$$ isnt bad either, since he's a better player then Briere or Gomez.

The bertuzzi one.... well, I liked him at the time and thought he would do better, we all make mistakes .

I will truly be happy in life if Kenny manages to re-acquire Avery. Sean Avery would be a fantastic addition to our team. Not only will he stick up for his teammates, but he can knock the other team off their game with his pest-tactics. Not to mention the guy knows how to put the puck in the net. He would be an overall great addition to our squad. Man that would be so great.

You can bring up all the stats and projections you want. But fact is, Avery is a more mature player now then he was earlier in his career and can definitely hold his own in the offensive realm. People seem to think he has hands of stone when hes really actually a pretty skilled guy.

That being said, even though his physicality and fiestiness is exactly what we need on the team, Im not sure Id want him back. He brings a lot of attention to his team, and not always in a good way. I guess if I knew more about what he does to a locker room (good or bad) then Id have more to say, but thankfully we can leave this decision up to management.
