Crazy Final Minutes In Boston

Rate this topic

With 6:41 remaining and the Caps up 1-0 In Boston, Donald Brashear takes a Triple minor (4 minutes for high sticking Krecji and a Roughing minor for decking Hnidy as he comes in to tell Brashear he's an ASS). As boston looks aenemic on the powerplay, another Cap takes a 2 min hooking penalty. Chara bombs a one timer in from the point to make it 1-1. Just enough time had passed on Brashears first minor that his original penalty expired and the Bruins Stayed on the 5 on 3. As one caps penalty Expires Poti slashes Murray's stick in 2 and boston scores on the ensuing 5 on 3. Bruins win 2-1.

Terrible lack of discipline by Washington. Good to see a team make the most of opportunities given to them by stupid penalties.

Craziest end to a game i've seen in a while. and the first time i've ever seen a triple minor.

Boston needed this as they have looked wretched as of late.

Was hoping Washington would win after the crap that Chara pulled in the first (flung Ovechkins stick into the stands).

I agree.... well until brashear went all butthead.... and then Poti took one errr TWO 2 handed slashes on murrays twig. that kinda evened up the idiotic moves in this tilt.

i do feel for ovi and huet thought. ovi wasn't on the ice for the last 7 minutes due to the endless train of caps to the box and huet didn't really stand a chance with over 4 minutes of 5 on 3.

I really wanna see Washington in the playoffs this year but it would probably be better for them to get the higher draft pick and miss them this year...

Me too. I would love to see the Caps, primarily because of AO in the playoffs.l It is a shame if they cant get there. I also think, regardless of his points total, it has to hurt his shot at MVP if they dont get in.

I only saw a very quick replay of the Brashear thing since I didn't get home in time to catch the game, but from the 2 seconds of it I saw, I thought Hnidy pushed Brashear first then crumpled like a ***** when he got hit.

Like I said though, I didn't get a clear look at and could well be wrong, and I just want the Caps to make the playoffs.

Just finished watching Coaches Corner where they showed some highlights of the game. Interesting karma for the 10-2 loss earlier in the week. Also, they showed AO getting creamed early in the game and showed him getting a pass later in the game where he took a look and totally missed the pass because he was scared of what might be coming in the black in yellow.

I'm glad this happened after they shamelessly ran up the score in the 10-2 game. Why try to humiliate a team?

Pleeeeeease tell me you're being sarcastic. Hey, let's not keep score at all since we might hurt the fragile hockey players' feelings.

Uhh Cheli got one like 2 years ago. 5 cross-checks to a guy and got called for the last three. It was hilarious.

You thought the end of the game was weird, you should have seen the beginning...two fights in the first 15 seconds. Milan Lucic got into it with a Cap five seconds into it. I like this kid Lucic...too bad we can't wrest him away from Boston.

When you're up by 6 goals, you rest your top line and play your 3rd and 4th liners more.

Sure, when you're up by 6 goals in the 3rd. When you get up by 6 in the 1st, it's a different story. Plus, there's no reason you need to rest your players. If AO wants to pad his stats and risk injury, then let him.

I don't remember the year but when Paul Coffey played for the Wings he had a triple minor. Don't remember the calls though.

I don't remember that one, i was a tad young, but a few years back, when bertuzzi was with the canucks he got a triple minor for 3 slashes.

Well, there is plenty of reason to rest your players. As you said, AO was risking injury. If he gets injured they're non-existent. What's the difference between winning by 2 goals or 8? a win is a win. You have every reason to rest your stars.
