Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 AHL Transactions Way to go Darren! In case anyone was unaware, he had a 4 point night in the AHL last night with 2 goals and 2 assists. He's on a 5 game point streak. He should make his debut tomorrow. I for one can't wait as he's my favourite prospect.
RedFX 48 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 I assume he'd be taking Hartigan's spot? That link also said Howard has been recalled.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted March 13, 2008 Howard's likely just for one game tho. I'm interested in seeing Helm play too.
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 hmm, I'm glad they are seeing what these prospects are all about now, as opposed to the WCF.

umredwing11 2 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 Weird foreshadowing or something, but at the Wings game on Tuesday Darren Helm was covered as the "getting to know the wings' future" during intermission. Impressive highlites of him, I look forward to his debut. Will he play in Hartigan's spot (I hope so) or is there another injury that I am not aware of? Draper out with a slight groin tear, so he'll be taking Drapes' spot.
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 My guess is Kopecky will be moved to take over Draper's position as the 3rd line center between Maltby and Drake and Helm will play LW on the 4th line with Hartigan at center with Downey at RW.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 I don't know anything about this guy, can someone explain why I should care about his call-up? not trying to be negative, just curious why the excitement? Well, he can't be any more useless than Kopecky, so I'm excited to watch him play.

T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 He was great for Canada at one WJC and Pierre Mcguire was praising him so that should give you an idea
Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted March 13, 2008 I don't know anything about this guy, can someone explain why I should care about his call-up? not trying to be negative, just curious why the excitement? The excitement is because he's expected to be the next homegrown Wing to make the transition to the NHL roster as a forward. We've got good depth on D these days but very little up front down through the organization. This kid projects as a slightly more offensively-capable version of Kris Draper, though his stock may fall a bit given that we're going to sign a few more of our picks to professional contracts next year. rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted March 14, 2008 Helm skated pretty hard out there tonight, not too shabby Helm has effortless wheels. On one shift in the 3rd he passed a Dallas defenceman on the right side and barely looked like he was skating. He's got pro speed. I'm excited about this kids future. With him and Abdelkader, the Wings have a couple of can't miss 3rd liners. At least.
