also would like to point out something I posted about a couple days ago, well, to be exact, it was minutes after our loss to Nashville. However due to the "fair tratment" which shown around here, the post was quickly deleted.

It's ironic because the post was in ragrds to lack of the Wings ability to win game when my man with a plan Aaron Downey is out of the lineup. WE NEED HIM BABY!!!! he needs to shake that flu bug and get back ASAP, cause the wings NEED him to win. THATS A FACT JACK!

Oh yeah, I forgot that we've won every game he's been in, and lost every one he's been scratched for. I also forgot that that 1st star wasn't meant for Datsyuk and that Downey didn't only play 4 minutes and do nothing that game.

haha i love it when the 'lets go red wings' chant gets going in a building other than the joe.

Yeaaaaah, I couldn't really make it out

I thought it was 'Lets go Red Wings' but I am horrible at figuring out what the crowd is chanting.

And then Columbus fans just shut up... like if another team chant started at the Joe (never would) there would be a riot.

Not true, Downie was in the lineup in the Wings' last game against Vancouver and they lost (he even sparked a full-scale confrontation at center ice during the warmup). Might have had more to do with having virtually all our D-men injured and Howard being put in net though *shudder*

Oh f***, wait, was that sarcastic?

Won't Downie's role pretty much become obsolete once McCarty gets around to joining the lineup anyway?

No, well not if you are referencing fighting. Granted fighting in the playoffs decreases (but not all together) if we have to decide between one of the two for pure "enforcer" status it would be Downey. That said, it's the Red Wings, and it simply won't happen. When you think about it we really could dress both of them, I mean say what you will about Downey but at least he offers the possibility of doing something, where as guys like Maltby who is absolutely WORTHLESS, I mean jesus, I hear everyone getting on Sammy's back (which they should he is about as bad as Maltby) but due the fact Malts helped us win a cup 6+ years ago he seems to get a virtual pass on his worthlessness.

Sorry about that little tangent, it's a touchy subject. lol

I think we may see Downey a game here and there in the first round, possibly the second, and if we do make it to the WCF I think he will be helping the team from the press box. Which is fine, he did his job when he had to. But who knows I guess we'll wait and see.

Yeah, my last-minute edit came just a touch too late there. Something didn't seem quite right about what you were saying. Then I remembered "Oh right, that's because it was bs"

14 shots and 4 goals? Playoff starter is pretty clear though. Dom come back soon :)

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot. Ozzie has never had a bad start like that.

Both goalies have been inconsistent and had horrible starts.

Right now it is not clear which goalie is better for playoffs (unreal save by Oz though just now).

Maltby has been playing really well lately...he has 5 goals this year even though he missed a bunch of time to injuries. That is a good number for Malts at this point in his career. Maltby is one of the best penalty killers in the league. He and Draper are great together on the PK.
