Any question on starting playoff goalie ?

Just thought I'd throw this baby out for you boys to debate Is there any debate in anyone's mind (or Babcock's for that matter) about starting Osgood in the playoffs as opposed to Grandpa Hasek.I have to say Hasek seems to be a bit broken down ,prone to some real soft periods of play and perhaps is not quite inspiring the confidence of his team mates lately

Also might we see vastly different forward lineups depending on the oppostion series ie could Kopecky and Hudler be benched against Anaheim or San Jose in favour of McCarty and Downey if it looks like it's going to be "One of those type of series"

Lets get some thoughts on these queries of mine

You know we're a soft organization when we bench our best enforcer against Anaheim or San Jose.

Hard to say, man. I bet that there is little doubt in Babcock's mind about starting Hasek. I firmly believe that Hasek will raise his level of play in the playoffs and be the steady goaltender that we need him to be. However, our luxury is that, if he starts the first game, or first couple of games, and plays poorly, he can be swapped for a very capable "backup" who has the best GAA in the league. Goaltending still DOES NOT worry me.

I also kind of like the thought of being able to throw different looks out there for different teams and different styles of play. It illustrates that we are a team whose depth goes right out of the starting lineup. It is kind of like in basketball where you might throw a bunch of bigs out on the floor for a half-court game, or a bunch of guards to pick up the pace. I think that it is another luxury we have.

Dom all the way! The only thing that worries me in the playoffs is the refs. Kinda like puckaloo said in a previous thread... How many goals are they gonna take away from us? That game tying goal that Homer scored vs the Ducks when we last played them that they took away nearly had me throw my tv outta the window and watch it explode!!! :ranting:

They have taken quite a few goals away from Holmstrom this year too if im not mistaken...

My only worries about goaltending is that I think babs has the same man love for hasek in goal for the playoffs as he does for sammy on 2nd line. That's not to say I'm putting down hasek. I am just worried that babs would hesitate to long to pull the trigger if hasek starts underperforming.

I'd alternate them, just like it's been done all year, unless one guy just severely outplays the other guy. I know it hasn't been something that teams have done in the past, but that's probably the best way to go with this team.

But do you think that Hasek may be on a fairly short leash if he falters One bad game or two bad games and he gets the hook?

Also I'm supremely pissed over the Stuart injury Just hope he's ready for round two

Hasek is going to be the starting goalie, end of story.

I concure, especially since Babcock already said that was the case. Unless Hasek is hurt or has 2 horrible games in a row, he is the man.

I think Ozzie's leash is shorter right now with Babcock than Hasek's. The thing I'd be most shocked over is if Osgood is named the flat our starter for the playoffs. Ozzie's best chance is that they'll be alternated.
