HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) WHAT A GAME! Edmonton -scored three in the first to lead 3-0. Avs score one in the second to make it 3-1 then shortly after the Oilers scored again to take the 4-1 lead. Avs score the next three and tied it 4-4. Oilers score the next two and make it 6-4. Now in the third with a couple minutes left Liles scored for the Avs to make it 6-5. This is insane. Make it 7-5 Oilers. Final score. They have some playoff hope left. Anyone else watching? oilandwingsfan 3 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 typical 3rd period for the Oilers, blowing a huge lead once again. but it was an awesome decision to take the timeout after it got tied up.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 That'd be weird if we play the Oilers again in the 1st round of the playoffs with them streaking just to make it in as the 8th seed. At least we won't have Manny Legace to worry about this time.
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 I thought it was dumb that they gave The Oilers the EN goal when the dude got hooked. He could have missed.

tiff_luvs_homer 5 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 it was a disappointing loss to say the least... we're gonna have to come out REALLY strong on our last few games... Thank goodness they're coming back home, maybe that will help by giving them a little extra "oomph" Budaj was looking good in net today though, I think he'll get the start on Monday versus Calgary. alienanxiety 23 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 only in the modern NHL does this crappy team weasel it's way into the playoffs. how many shootout wins do they have? 14??? so just a few years ago, those would have been 14 ties, not 14 wins. that'd leave them with a record of 24-33-19 for a points total of 67. Tampa Bay and LA have 66 pts, for the record. f'ing shootout!

Players battle their arses off for 80 minutes only to have it come down to one-on-one. Sooo wrong. At least TWO periods of OT before a shootout, is all I'm asking. kylee 727 Report post Posted March 23, 2008 i only watched the 1st period then turned it off and went out for a bit!! but either way, no offense to the Oil but they're a pretender team. as people have noticed, 15 shoot out wins (see 06-07 Penguins). im actually rooting for the Preds to get the 8th seed followed by the Avs - but it looks like they're gonna screw that up too. Preds win in a shoot out today, Oil and Preds gain ground on Avs and the 8th seed. go preds?

seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted March 23, 2008 Are you serious? You think there are 4 periods in a hockey game? I was thinking they thought that OT was a full 20 minutes. Either way, it was just a brain fart I'm sure. (<--- Don't know what that smiley is for exactly, but I love it)

(<--- Don't know what that smiley is for exactly, but I love it) Makes sense. Either way, that guy needs to watch more hockey. And just for the record, no way would I want my boys playing two OT periods for one point. Five minutes of OT is plenty. Just get rid of the SO.

You're insinuating that you think there should be ties in the NHL and there really shouldn't. No matter what they do the tie needs to die! If you wanna get rid of the shootout then do a 5 minute period of 4 on 4 and then after do 3 on 3 overtime until someone scores. Might only be worth a point, but god do I hate ties. *I'm not saying I would necessarily like to see a 3X3 overtime but it was just a thought they mentioned during the all-stars skills game*
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) OT should be a 1 point gain for the winning team, not 2. Edited March 23, 2008 by CaliWingsNut
