I'm sorry for bringing this up again but am I the only one who feels that this year the Sharks pose a much much bigger threat than any other team? Yes i know we just lost to them 3-2 when they had a full roster and ours was half depleted but still, ever since aquiring Brian Campbell they have been lights out, at 16-0-2. Campbell has been the perfect fit, notching 16 points in 17 games, and even Patrick Marleua and Jonathon Cheechoo have awaken from their slumps.

I know San Jose's playoff history compared to regular season, and i know that they probablly will choke, like always, but still if they all finally play up to their potentiol they are scary good. I personally have watched a few of their recent games on their hot streak and it really seems like they have no weakness. Evi Nabokov has been playing amazing. Ugg sorry for the rant just wanted to see if anyone else is concerned with meeting them in the WCF

IMO their D can't handle our offense. If nabokov is anything less than spectacular, there are done. Beside how can anyone respect a team coached by hantayo.

I don't ever find myself scared of any one team. I would say they, the Sharks pose of great of a threat as the Ducks or even the Canucks for that matter. I know the Canucks are not as good of a team as us or SJ or Anaheim, but either was Edmonton year before last. And you see what happened there. We can only hope that history repeats themselves for certain teams like SJ and Calgary. And not for us, unless were talkin 97,98, and 02.

I couldn'tt agree more with this statement, and not even in regards to the Wings offense but the SJ defense. Adding Campbell was a huge boost for them, but their defense is still suspect IMO regardless of them only allowing 8 more goals than Detroit. If you contain their offense they'll crumble.

It's a great day to die. And by die I mean lose. It's a great day to lose. That freaking cracks me up every time someone references it.

To the question at hand, do the Sharks worry me? I guess enough that I'm hoping the NW winner takes a dive in the 1st round, meaning we'd play #6 in the 2nd round and we don't have to see both the Sharks and Ducks.

At the same time though, while on paper they're both great teams, the Ducks still worry me more. They have that undefinable "it" factor come playoff time that the Sharks don't.

from past playoff experiences from the wings, if there were any threats, they would all be. the 8th seed could be a threat as well but when it come to the wings and the sharks, the wings have had the advantage. Nabakov is a good goalie but he is not a great goalie. ours guys have his number and as long as everyone gets healthy then we are looking good.

This would not be the year to say that. Same for Nabokov. Career year.

If their defense is suspect, then so is ours... save for Lidstrom and Chelios. But they can't play every shift.

And their offense right now is much deeper than ours. What worries me is our fourth line depth (uselessness) and secondary scoring (consistency).

I agree that we would be better off only seeing one of the Sharks or Ducks and in the Conference Finals. Last year was a bad draw, for sure.

Save for Lidstrom and Chelios? Lidstrom's the best defenseman and player in the NHL -- and what about Kronwall and Stuart? That's like saying Vancouver's goaltending is suspect, save for Roberto Luongo. Ottawas offense is pretty weak, save for Alfredsson, Spezza, and Heatley.

Their offense is deeper than ours on paper but not in reality. Thornton has 93 points. After that it's Michalek with 53 points. Then Marleau with 43. Datsyuk and Zetterberg each have 90+ points, Cleary, Franzen, and Holmstrom all have 20 goals. Filppula has 19. Lidstrom is leading defensemen in scoring and Rafalski isn't far behind. I'll put it this way: Samuelsson (the guy everyone rips on here) would be fourth on their team in scoring.

yeah... I know what you're talking about. it's the way the refs swallow whistles

when they continuously abuse the rules and how the league lets them escape

with murder while similar acts get lengthy suspensions for other teams...

this "it" factor is league approval for Ducks endlessly violating rulebook.

if Campbell had balls and refs were fair Ducks would be nowhere close

to what they're believed to be

Nabby's not all that great, especially in pressure situations... but I am willing to bet that if our offense looks like it did yesterday, we can make him look like Jacques Plant on his best day.

If the Wings play 60 minutes (if), then SJ will crater. They are nowhere near as talented a team as the Wings. Like any round, whichever team shows up could take it, let's hope it's wearing red.

Be nice to see them and the Ducks duke it out - but would that leave the winner stronger to take us on? God help us if we have to take on both in some weird twist, but if we did that AND won the Cup, you can kiss any doubt about Detroit goodbye. That would be truly epic.

Detroits play style really causes problems for the Sharks, especially in a 7 game series we can really shut down the Sharks main game plan. I'll take the Sharks in a conference finals any day... we have beaten tougher teams in the playoffs in the past.

Datsyuk was a no-show before last year, too.

Except Datsyuk has a cup ring and Big Joe has to shave his beard every year well before june...
