Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 After a massively dissapointing end to the year in Vancouver, what changes do you expect for the Canucks in the off-season? Linden probably won't be back, he'll retire. Will Naslund be back? What are the chances that Luongo might not be back as well? I don't see that happenening, but I've heard some small talk about it. He played one period tonight before giving way to Curtis Sanford...it had nothing to do with the 3 goals he allowed, the commentators said his heart just wasn't in it tonight, and he played like it. Rice 42 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Naslund will be gone. Linden could go either way. Luongo stays for sure. I actually wouldn't mind having Naslund here. The guy has heaps of talent and was probably the best forward in the league a few years ago. Throw him on a team like Detroit where he'd be playing second fiddle to Datsyuk and Zetterberg and he might thrive with less pressure and responsibility. Throw him on a team like Detroit where he'd be playing second fiddle to Datsyuk and Zetterberg and he might thrive with less pressure and responsibility. I've thought about having Naslund too and I think he'd be a great fit, especially since he's had a couple off years. His wrist shot alone can adjust a team's coverage in their own zone, he has one of the most lethal snipeshows when coming off the half boards, that could open up a lot of room for Zetterberg or Datsyuk, whoever his centerman is
Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 So, who still thinks Vigneault should get the Adams? I remember copping it a few months ago for completely dismissing the possibility of his nomination. What a great coach! All he needs to do now is work out how to get his team to win when Lou is slightly off his game.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 People in Vancouver are probably thinking their problems will be solved if Bobby Lou goes for a vasectomy.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Not sure if anyone else noticed this... But isn't it an interesting coincidence that Vancouver just absolutely TANKED after Ohlund went down? You know...the guy I was railed on for saying he's one of the best defensemen in the NHL? They went 4-8 after he was hurt...4-9 if you count the game he was injured in. Very interesting. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 All signs are pointing to a Linden retirement. Very classy move by the Flames, coming to shake hands with him after the game, and he's skating around alone saluting the crowd. If this is the end, congratulations to him on a great career, and best of luck in the future.
kylee 727 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 i can dig seeing Naslund in a Wings uni. i know he had a down year this year, but as you guys have pointed out, players can come here and revive their careers. and for Vacouver, heck , that whole franchise might be gutted. Obviously after tonight Linden is done, id be shocked if Naslund goes back. thats taking away two very good players on a team that didn't mean the playoffs this year (albeit they obviously underachieved)
jawbreaker 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Read from TSN, that the twins would get (are worth) 6-7M each... Pathetic, not over 5M for them. We should get Z for 6-7M, and we probably will get him signed for that kind of money. Datsyuk is having a slightly better season than Z, plus he won't take more than #5. He will be probably signed for the exact same number as Dats. Imagine: we will have Dats + Z for 13-14M, and the Canucks will have twins for the same money. The twins will stay, but at the kind of money they are in search of ? Ying & Yang are the whole package, separate them & you don't have squat.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 As much as I dislike the twins, as a hockey fan you can't help but like to see the natural chemistry between the two and how they seem to make players better due to their strong play. They're definately worth the 3-5 million range, but that's it.
Outsider 42 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Comments like this are the reason why I never have, and never will, like Roberto Luongo. Comments like this are also the reason why I firmly believe that he is most definitely NOT one of the greats at the position: Flames 7, Vancouver 1 “I don’t really care,” Luongo said. “My season ended Thursday as far as I’m concerned. I tried to bring it but obviously I didn’t have anything in the tank.” I have maintained since his days with the Islanders that Luongo had all the talent in the world, but had the heart of a tse-tse fly, and a spine like overcooked linguine. Talent without heart is about as useful as teats on a bull. Farkin' whiney cry-baby....

I dunno...All the stuff surrounding his family and newborn baby, the fact that his team was eliminated from the playoffs, I'm not sure I'd be that motivated to play in a game either. Outsider 42 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 I'd be more inclined to agree, and to give Luongo the benefit of the doubt, were this the first time he's made a comment like this. As an Isles fan, I got sick and tired of hearing a future "elite" goaltender slam the young Team in front of him with comments like "It's hard to win games when you're the only guy playing." when he was on Long Island. Perhaps if Mr. Luongo could've mustered up more in the tank than a 1-7 record, and getting pulled three times in his last 8 games down the crucial stretch to the Post Season, he'd have the right to talk about "How the Cup changes everything." Naslund is not a leader; he is a very talented wet blanket. He will not be a canuck next year. I would not want to sacrifice anyones future for Nazzie on the Wings second line. Years ago, the Canucks should have tried to trade the farm for hometown boy Burnaby Joe; Joe Sakic, and built a dynasty around him. Instead they have been in a funk and have had a major inferiority complex. The Twins are a great second line. Put them back to the second line, and man, there is sure some rebuilding to do to that team. Linden was great; he won't be back. Luongo is great, trade away some of that so called depth on the D-Line for some scoring powers and let Luongo be the number one Dman. The Canucks hopes all went down the drain at the same time that Steve Moore's hopes went down the drain. They have not been the same team since.

12Newf 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 when people talk about their "natural chemistry" i just dont buy it. the whole twin connection thing makes no sense. theyre chemistry is the result of playing together for 20+ years. obviously they know where the other is going to be.
