LOL at the Pred board

"We should file a lawsuit because this is absolutely horrendous. No telling how much money this can cost us; we may not get to the next series now. "

PLEASE! Go sing about it on your banjo.

haha I know! I thought their board was kind of normal...until I read their GDT. Their logic boggles my mind!

Imagine how pissed they'd be if the Preds didn't even make the postseason!

Damn, did you guys see that Montreal crowd? THAT'S a hockey crowd. Wow.

I'm very happy they won, but the wings looked shakey on defense at times in my opinion. I honestly didn't think they'd have too much trouble on offense after watching about 5-10 minutes of the first period. The wings looked on offensively. If they get their little hiccups on defense fixed up, they'll be a prime time contender for sure.

The preds were hanging around WAYYY too long for my liking, but it was definitely exciting hockey.

Man, what an awesome game! We were all over them. Dats and Z were almost unstoppable. I loved how our D kept the preds outside to the boards the whole night. We had a pretty strong effort tonight. Oh, the only bad thing I saw tonight was how Flipper couldn't keep the puck on his stick...he was losing it constantly. Sammy really surprised me. He had a really good game. I didn't see one mistake from Sammy..surprising.

LETS GO WINGS!!!!

too bad 2-2 got that flukey one on Dom. A shut out would have been even better. But I will take the W.

I thought Tootoo's goal was weak, actually. Yes, it was deflected, but my complaint is that the deflected puck hit Hasek's stick and pushed through it into the net.

Aside from that, though, Dom played very well and overall, had a strong game.

Also, happy for Franzen that he was named second star...but I didn't think he was one of the Wings' top three forwards, let alone the second best player on the ice.

Well my question is who exactly would this lawsuit be filed against? Are they gonna sue the Wings or their own players? Who knows?

I disagree about Franzen. When he was out there, he was making things happen and was always around the action. He could have laid the body on a few more times, but if he keeps this up, he'll be a huge asset to our playoff success.

Whew....

Was I the only person who loved our 2nd line out there tonight? Especially Franzen...man was he a beast using his big body to cycle down low. If only Flip would shoot more! But those two plus Cleary could be great...

Z was fantastic, and Pavel played well (although I heard he was hampered with the flu pretty bad today)...Im sure he'll be back to his dominating self soon. Homer wasnt great, but it was only his 2nd game back...so he gets some slack.

The D was fine: I thought Lidstrom and Stuart were very good.

Raffi had some hiccups

and Kronner was fine...I just wish he wouldnt fly up like he did after that hit...it made it look worse than it was. Even still...I love him

Dom was good.

This team needs to discover more desperation..and hopefully that will come later. Ellis was fine, but he gives up SO MANY REBOUNDS...they will be there all series. Whether or not we win the battles to get to them will determine if this series will end sooner or later.

Yeah, its crazy how some crowds just get into a state that is out of this world. Perhaps two-three years of no playoffs would be good for Detroit. Fans would recognize that just being in the playoffs is a special thing, and you should go home with No voice.

understood. Dom can't win good enough to suit some of us. If he got a shut out, someone would have piped up and said it was "easy" and he didn't have to do anything to earn it. So it goes...

Good effort from all of the Wings tonight, though they looked a little tentative. They will be better on Saturday. Onward!!

Good first game by the Wings. We outskated them badly spent a good chunk of the game in the Nashville zone. The Nashville goal was a fluke and besides that Dom had a solid game. We need to cut down on the turnovers but aside form that we looked fairly good.

You could maybe make the case that the Preds goal was stoppable, considering where the shot went it. But I think it's pretty clear Dom never saw the puck; Lilja and Tootoo were both directly in the shooting lane and that puck was lucky to get through.

You really didn't think Franzen looked good? He almost had another goal midway through the second period.

Really?!?!?! I thought he was great. Especially in the 1st and 2nd. Drapes was great too. Know who wasn't great?? Rafalski. Which I think is fine because you know he's gonna get his game back. Lidstrom had to bail his ass out a couple of time.

Sure seemed more than 20 shots against tonight. Pretty entertaining game. I love the people that are like, "Well, it WAS tipped.............BUT IT'S STILL A WEAK GOAL!" Having played goaltender the tipped shot, particularly when a. you can't see the shot, and b. you can't see the person tipping the shot, is THE hardest save a goalkeeper can attempt. In that situation the Dom can only hope the puck hits him, and it didn't. The way he fell back reminded me of the '97 playoffs Game 3 against Ottawa, I was thinking we might have a knee sprain on our hands. Time to go root for the Stars/Flames.

My random notes and observations from game 1:

- Good to see us selling out our games again and the crowd was pretty wild, this defintely makes me happy.

- Zata is CLUTCH!

- Hasek looks pretty darn solid though he wasn't really tested, Ellis looked good too, not great, I feel most of our chances that went by the wayside were either post shots, or just instances of failed execution by us being 2% off on the play. I also think our garbage shot total was at worse equal with Nashville's so that's a good trend to see us stray from partially.

- I don't care what anyone says, Sammy was pretty good tonight and Hudler even had his moments though he needs to shoot the damn puck. I swear he and Sammy are polar opposites of each other, if only we could combine the best assets of both we'd have one hell of a player.

- In retrospect I liked the Kronnic hit. Dirty? Yes. Untimely? yes. But it sent an alright message by a team of "softies." No one was hurt (Kronwall either, thank god) and maybe Nashville won't be taking things so lightly now on us aforementioned "softies." Hope that plays with their heads some.

- Redmond is the best local sports color commentator anywhere. loved what he had to say when Tootoo charged one of our guys.

- Michigan is playing TERRIBLE against Notre Dame, kind of dampens my mood =/
