Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) But are you seriously going to lose any sleep over it if they do? What's the big deal? Nah I won't lose any sleep over it. Since we're talking about it, I'd rather it not be at the Joe. Actually before this discussion started, hearing it in other arenas I've thought to myself, "I'm glad we don't do that in Detroit." I just find it annoying personally. Edit: And it makes me think of soccer Edited April 13, 2008 by Barrie
IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 LOL! I definitly agree. This class thing is such a bunch of bulls***. In hockey, classy spells boring and lame in my book. It also spells weak, which is what the OP of this thread is. I could care less if I'm not considered "classy". When I go to hockey games, I get all over the opposing players. Some people here seem to forget that when the "____ YOU SUCK!" chants are done, it can throw the opposing teams players off their game. I mean, the Wings 4th goal yesterday came during on of the "Ellllllllllis YOU SUCK!" chants, so it could have played a part. Stop being a bunch of pansies, and trying to take all the fun out of going to a hockey game. This isn't a golf match; it shouldn't be quiet. I want the Joe to be a loud, intimidating building, not a small crowd of stuffed shirts watching a chess match. I could care less if I'm considered classless; it's fun to do that stuff, and if I go to a playoff game this year (I'm trying to get tickets), I'm going to be as loud and rowdy as I want. Again: I could care less if these chants are considered "classy"; their fun, and if I'm spending the money on tickets to go, I should be having fun, shouldn't I? It's the way hockey should be, so leave it alone and shut up. I loved the atmosphere at the Joe yesterday, and hopefully, that carries over through the rest of the playoffs. I hope nobody actually listens to the OP in this thread. Don't be a stuffy loser like him; go to the games, be loud, chant whatever you want, and have fun. That's what hockey is all about. Preach on Preacher man!!! Yes sir.

I whole heartedly agree! This is not figure skating! My first hockey game was so boring *other than me of course* nobody around me was cheering. I was getting some strange looks from the suits...just rolled off my back...I was there to have some fun! I so wanted to leave my husband *he's soooo boring* where he was and head to the "fun/loud" section! I can be as classy as the next person...but not at a hockey game! NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Nah I won't lose any sleep over it. Since we're talking about it, I'd rather it not be at the Joe. Actually before this discussion started, hearing it in other arenas I've thought to myself, "I'm glad we don't do that in Detroit." I just find it annoying personally. Edit: And it makes me think of soccer Fair enough, but personally I look at it as camaraderie. Yes, I associate it with soccer as well, but it's always nice having the entire crowd get into a chant, and I could think of far worse things to scream than that. Better yet, you should not even watch hockey because people watch soccer and that would make you think of soccer. That is how ridiculous it sounds for what you are saying. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Just throwing this in here: I saw a cartoon not long ago. A bunch of guys dressed like lumberjacks are standing by a fence. Inside the fence is another lumberjack holding a red cloth and a bull is coming toward him. The caption reads "Canadian bullfighters" and the bullfighter is saying "Ol, eh". I've had that running through my mind this thread since Olay isn't on my mind any more. That could be an anti-Cheli chant.
