RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Let me ask everyone this..... what is up with Pierre and Co. saying the "Preds show too much respect for the Wings" Is this some polite way of saying the Preds suck? Seriously I see excuses coming from Trotz and these guys.... And respect? more of too much of a lack of respect, these guys dont like each other and make it clearly known. Bottom line, after tonights game I can feel the Wings have the advantage (along with a 2-0 series lead) and if we capitalize we can win game 3, go up 3-0, and finish it in 5 back in Detroit worst case scenario. My dad taught me this when I was little..... Excuses are for losers. Winners don't make excuses, they find a way to make it work. And its obvious after that nice timeout, Detroit got it to work and Nashville is still making excuses....if the Preds keep that mentality this series is over, its just how many games can the Pred fans count before they see Tootoo 3 over par on the golf course. stevie for president 42 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 not including the 2002 red wings, who was the last team to win the stanley cup purely on skill and not on lucky bounces and controversial calls (or non calls). Hell, even the 2002 wings had luck and questionable calls (statue of liberty had both!) or braithewait shooting the puck at yzerman and it goes in. i mean come on. this is how i see it. both teams have lucky bounces. the wings simply execute on theirs and they can recover when calls and bounces go against them. nashville cant. or at least they havent. i mean anyone wouldve scored radulovs goal. They shouldnt have tanked in chicago. be careful what you wish for. and 1 more thing. if nashville capitalized on their 1st period, were not having this discussion. bottom line, you need to execute and if you dont, you lose. end of story. welcome to the playoffs, learn that lesson and you might win a series cry babies. Guest nutz2u Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I just find amusing that anyone would think the Refs would give the Wings any kind of a break as much as they usually stick it up our nose and all of our other orifices.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I don't understand the hoopla about Weber. People act like he's some kind of elite defenseman...and yet: He plays on Nashville's third pairing. And among Preds defensemen: He's fourth in ice time per game this season. He's fourth in ES ice time per game this season. He's fourth in PP ice time per game this season. He's fifth in PK ice time per game this season. On a poor defensive team, Weber is basically the #4/#5 defenseman and a PP specialist. That he is such, and still is only the fourth PP option, speaks volumes about his skill level. In other words...there are far more important players the Predleys should be worried about the performances of. Thanks for the stats. They added a lot. sergei_is_still_a_wing 1 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 granted i only saw the highlights from nhl.com BUT the only "luck" i saw was the dump in turned goal by the preds. and even if every single goal by the wings was lucky does that mean they are less deserving of a 2-0 series lead (and not to mention nothing lucky happened in game 1 and det won that too). just more bulletin board material for the wings to "prove" they aren't only lucky i guess... whatever. its 2-0, let them *****. they would be saying ver batum what mike did had they won tonights game... Nev 1,085 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 The preds were robbed on that goal in the first period and we'd be justifiably pissed if that happened to us. Everything else is baseless whining. After it went 2-2 (on 2 "lucky" bounces for the Preds no less) they had only 9 shots in something like 35 minutes of play, and most of those must have come on that two minute 6on4, and NONE of that was to do with the refs and ALL of it to do with Detroit just being a flat out better team than Nashville. Superman54 91 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 What makes me so pleased is that we saw the very best Nashville could dish in the 1st period, and we still went into the locker room up 1-0, and if the Preds wanna continue to ***** and complain, then this series should be done in 4. They are not gonna win by weeping over their misfortune, I mean we already saw that today in the 4rd....Trotz did a no-no!
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I just find amusing that anyone would think the Refs would give the Wings any kind of a break as much as they usually stick it up our nose and all of our other orifices. No more/no less than any other team. Refereeing is going to be questionable/inconsistent in every game. They aren't out to just get the Red Wings. That being said, I don't care how it has happened, the Wings are still up 2-0. Some of it is luck, and some of it is being good enough to capitalize of luck/questionable calls. Some of it is just being good overall regardless of the breaks/no breaks. It's been a combination of the three. I wouldn't call that a lack of respect at all. All teams need help and all teams step their game up at some point of the playoffs to win it all. I think some in here are just looking for an excuse to complain about with the whole disrespect tag. ifonlyicouldskate 11 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I can understand why they saying all of that. Game 1 offsides goal could of gone either way, just so happend to go our way. They were screwed out of the first goal in game 2 as the puck was in before the net came off, I believe the call, was the play was whistled dead before that or something???? And how many times this season have we seen Homer get called for goaltending interferrence on a play just like that? Countless times. Lady Luck is on our side and we will take it for once. No mention of any of the Preds lucky bounces for goals because it was in a losing effort, or the lack luster play of there so called best players. From what I have seen in the first two game is that only a couple of there players have showed up to play hockey, One being Ellis and the other, well I hate to say it, that punk they call Tootoo. The rest? non existant :violin:

DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Apparently garbage goals are the way to go in the playoffs unless you're the Wings. Then it's just luck, shouldn't count, etc. It is a total lack of respect. I also wonder how many people are changing their tune about Anaheim already. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 That's fine....let them focus on their excuses because if they keep blaming the officiating rather than focusing on what they need to do they'll be golfing by next weekend. Nevermind the fact that the first goal they had yesterday was obviously pure skill.

I also wonder how many people are changing their tune about Anaheim already. See thats the thing. If it had been the Preds that got the breaks and won theyd say they showed perserverance and took advantage of thier chances. The Wings do it and its "luck". You can just feel the hockey world rooting for Nashville. The NBC announcers yesterday focused all thier attention on the Preds. If they said anything about the Wings it was a quick "Hasek was brilliant in the first" then right back to drooling over that scrub Tootoo.
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 1st thing.... Before the "disallowed goal" the goal was knocked upwards and the goal would not have counted. The goal must remain on the ice in order for the goal to count. 2nd thing(s).... They called Hasek for holding the stick. Where was the call when he was knocked over behind the net? If Homer looked at Ellis crossedeyed, he would have gotten called for interference. Where was the call for the boarding on DMac? Should have been a 4 minute PP. There was an offsides on Dats where he was skating backwards. You can have yourself offsides as long as you have control of the puck (HE DID). There was a penalty in one of the corners where a Wing was held and the ref was looking right at it. Where was that call? As far as being lucky, you do need luck to win The Cup. How many times did the Preds have a PP in the 1st 2 games and nullify it by causing a penalty of their own?
