savaking72 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 The usual. Wings have 100 shot to their 5, and we are only winning by 1. I hate how they let them hang around. I know that HUGE crest on Ellis' chest has something to do with it. Oh, putting the sarcasm aside, what a nice goal by Filppula. That goal, I hope, marks a huge turn around for Flipper. Man, what an awesome shot.
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 It HAS to be the shots we take. Drapes was in a 2 on 1 back there with I think Flip, and more importantly the net, wide open on the right side, and instead just shot it right at Ellis's chest. It was Hudler on his right side, and he shoulda passed, but if they dwell on that, nothing good will come.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 How many useless slapshots have we taken in this game, where Ellis has a good view of the puck? Yeah, it worked for Arnott in game 3, but usually those types of shots don't go in. Like I said, we need more deflections and dirty goals. Like the ones Trashville gets. Nero 20 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I disagree with everyone saying Ellis is doing great. He's the same Ellis he was the last 4 games. He's giving up huge rebounds, not controlling the puck well.. but still Detroit has failed to score more.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I agree...he's not that good, but the Wings are making him look like he is. I don't think its just the Wings. Ellis has made his fair share of great stops tonight regardless of the shot total. Bottom line....he's very warmed up and settled in.
Hatchet Barry 71 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Come on Wings. Play your god damn ass's off in the third and win this game. LETS GO RED WINGS!!!
sdogg1m 3 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 May 16th, 1996 in 2OT against the St. Louis Blues is the last time Detroit won a playoff game with a 1-0 score We are about due for another one. Go Ozzy and Wings shut them out this period!!!
kherty 3 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Yeah, aiming at something *OTHER* than the goalie would be a good start! One a positive note, I loved how the Joe lit up with a roar when Macs blasted that Pred into the boards...lol That's worth the price of admission!
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Two words: Garbage goals. I'm confident with this game, and Osgood has been great, despite the lack of shots against him. The shots agaisnt him were pretty good, and he's stopped them so far. I'm also sick of outshooting opponents only to score one or two goals. A lot has to do with terrible shots, but we need pressure. Rebounds, puck-handling, and garbage goals. It'll happen guys.

NHLrules? 32 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 We have to start scoring on the Power Play. We have to stop this fire at the net at any angle and make some plays.

Drapes was in a 2 on 1 back there with I think Flip, and more importantly the net, wide open on the right side, and instead just shot it right at Ellis's chest. I don't even think Draper knew he had a trailer. Never looked in that direction (why would he? it's backwards.) I agree...he's not that good, but the Wings are making him look like he is. Maybe he is that good or maybe he isn't but he's the first star of this game so far, IMO. Same story. Every year I watch the Wings get embroiled in these 1-0 thrillers, and they always show highlights of other teams scoring goals with the greatest of ease because the goalies are human and play like it. Seven goals have been scored in the Rags-Devils game, and that's supposed to be Marty Brodeur in net.
savaking72 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Bottom line.....Ellis has been sensational. Ellis has been lucky. Filppula has figured out to shoot over him. It is a matter of time before the rest of our team figures it out. Oh, in case I haven't said it...Awesome goal Flipper!

Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I agree...he's not that good, but the Wings are making him look like he is. Ellis has done nothing spectacular. He hasn't robbed anyone. He's just read the play well, kept the 5-hole closed and stood tall. The Wings have been pathetic offensively. They could've done more with every single scoring chance they've had. They seem to be targetting the logo on Dan Ellis' chest.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 *sigh* Nashville is playing perfect "prevent defense". Detroit needs to get those point shots on net and Holmer needs to actually bury a fricking puck on his 3rd chance! The boys'll come out strong in the 3rd! GO WINGS! Oh, in case I haven't said it...Awesome goal Flipper! Gimme a break....he's made those saves for a reason.
