WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 This sounds pretty official to me... The NHL’s next Winter Classic will be Bruins vs. Rangers at Yankee Stadium, Jan. 1, 2009, provided the House That Ruth Built can keep the house from flooding. Not kidding, folks. The Yanks normally shut down The Stadium at the end of October, and this year they will close the ballpark for good as they make their way around the corner to their bigger, cushier digs. If the NHL wants to go “Game on!” it will have to pay a $200,000 bill to preserve the pipes through November and December. If the league opts not to foot the expense - a decision that will have to come soon - then the Red Wings will face the Blackhawks at Wrigley Field. Here's to hoping Bettman will be a cheapass :beerbuddy:
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I think it would be really lame to have the Bruins and Rangers play because this year's WC was all Eastern teams. It's our turn. But I like the idea of Original 6 matchups.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) How about the Panthers playing the Coyotes outdoors where the Arizona Cardinals used to play? I think it was Sun Devils Stadium. Edited April 21, 2008 by GMRwings1983

The Hawks and Wings I mean.
JayUp88 1 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 But seeing as how they handed our heads to us all season, I think it would be ok for next year. The Hawks and Wings I mean. Very true but I thinking more from a national eye. Nationally there aren't a ton of big names other then Kane on the Hawks. But maybe by 2010 they all the young guns on that team will be big names. But if it is Wrigley you are going to have two O6 teams playing on one of the most histroic Baseball diamonds in the country.

BlackhawksFan 4 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 A Detroit-Chicago outdoor game would be awesome. The cheering during the anthem would be 4x louder. The "Detroit sucks" chants would be 4x louder (and I guess the "Let's Go Red Wings" chants would be 4x louder, too). That would be a great game.
