WOW!!! Positive things about Tennessee!!!!! How nice! Usually all we hear is we are a bunch of toothless hicks that are all related to each other!!

All of you are welcome to visit anytime - and spend your money. I think I said it another thread, but tourism is the reason we don't have a state income tax. Thank you!

Hillbilly - don't let Chelios know that is your screen name since he called us all hillbillies on the radio. You know I thought he was a real standup guy. The last regular season game here a little girl not far from the Wings bench took a puck to the head. He made sure she had a towel to help stop the bleeding and he even gave her one of his sticks as she was leaving for medical attention. I thought "wow he is a good guy" Now after those hillbilly comments I'm not so sure. What is the real story with him?

By the way - great series!!! Bet you never thought it would go 6 games!

i tried to join the nashville boards but i guess my name scared them off. to a preds fan i guess it would look like im a troll with a name like hillbillywingsfan=)

Ehh were from Michigan....we have no money here to spend in Tennessee lol

And don't take Chelios to serious with his interviews. He is old enough to be that crazy grandfather that everyone has who's mind is starting to go. Seriously though I think he just likes to have fun for local fans and get them to hate him. Makes him play better. Everyone ribs him about his age so he gives a little back with a ribbing about the local area.

Exit 69 on I-540 in Northwest arkansas is for Johnson. No s***.

I saw 1 Preds fan today at the store while wearing my red wings hat. he gave me a dirty look and I looked back with a sneer. he walked off.

and yes HawksFan, Tennessee Welcome Centers also double as Outhouses for the local folks.

I was at that game! It happened one section over from us. He IS a stand-up guy. He just knows how to get under peoples' skin, and he does it.

Im very proud to call Tennessee home, and I'm happy to see so many of you compiment this state!

Glad your survived!

I went to Chicago for a game and wore my Malts jersey and he scored 2 goals that game. Got so ripped on, food thrown at me, but it was hilarious at the same time!

Even though we won, I should have gone to the game in Nashville and worn my McCarty jersey...I would love to see him get 2 goals!

dude that's amazing

I did something like that last year. I took a train ride that went through Chicago, st louis, and into Texas. It was great, ticked off blackhawks, blues, and star fans all in 24 hours.

It was fun. Nobody really got upset.....the 2 that flipped me off were laughing and the trooper was just doing it in fun also. I was never afraid that anything would happen or I wouldn't have done it. People are very nice here in the south. I think it also helped being a female. :hehe:

I am a Detroit transplant living in Knoxville. I make it over to Nashville for at least 2 games per year. This past game, game 4, will be the last one I EVER go to here. From now on, I'll be saving my money and making a trip up to the Joe.

At this past game, I was refused service at the concession stand, called a b i t c h by one of the Preds "Dancer - whores", hit in the back of the head with rally towels, on purpose, and mooned in the parking garage while being told to "Go home Yankee, Wings Suck".

I will never go back to a game agian. You figure, $265 a night, two nights, $120 per ticket, three tickets, you can drive up to the Joe and have fun.

That being said, I love this state. Most of the time, the people are nice. They do, however, have a problem with out of towners, they think that everybody that's not from here think that they are all hillbillies. I've been here 13 years, and I've only met two people that fit my idea of a true "hillbilly".

And, you want to tell me where this Nashville/Detroit "rivalry" comes from? Being a Wings fan, I don't feel like we have a rivalry with Nashville. I think Nashville wants to have one, but it's just not there.

SPOT ON!!! I have been down here for 3 years. I use to go to the games, but I found that I have a better time at home watching the games. I personally don't like the city of Nashville at all!! Other than that I love living down here, and the weather is soooo much nicer!! The girl that I'm dating, her mom doesn't like the fact that she is dating a yankee, but she'll just have to get over it!! I get the yankee thing all the time, but I just shrug it off,it no big deal. Most of the people down

here had no family in the war anyway. Most of them have no idea what they are talking about!! GO WINGS!!!!

That was quite HARSH and TOTALLY uncalled for....please don't make me ashamed of being a Detroiter! :ranting:

Sorry to offend you. But when you get harrassed at the games, when some random douchebags try to pick a fight with you and you're girlfriend in the parking lot, when you can't walk into Target wearing a Wings shirt or else you get mobbed and taunted, when some Preds fans beat on the roof of your car after they win, THEN you can be ashamed of my comments.

I've lived in Tennessee for 15 years and I have never seen anything on a scale like this. I try to support the team, but after what I've gone through the past few weeks, I have really started to DESPISE these fans.

You ask anyone down here and they'll tell you this is a Yankees-Red Sox type matchup.

I was at a gas station just across the border from Tennessee in Kentucky, and I have a Wings emblem in my back glass of my Colorado. A person approached me whom I've never spoken with before and called me and the Wings every name but human, how my team is a disgrace and how the predators are a better organization / team. He then said that the Preds won their division 2 years ago, and when I corrected him with the Predators have never won the Central in their 10 seasons, he told me that at least the Predators don't buy their team.....(I Replied with "I didnt know these players did it for free) part of the ignorance is the media's fault, they don't discuss the team much until Vandy / UT's football and basketball seasons are over, which is about the last month or so of the season prior to the playoffs. I just don't know why these people think it's this bloody rivalry, I lived in the Nashville area until 04, and I'm back in the area for the present, still have no idea why they act like they do. I've been to St Louis, and Chicago to see the Wings and have not been treated that way.

It is a beautiful state. I've always loved Tennessee.

Nashville is a nice city, you can walk around in the downtown area and not worry about being mugged. There are many different tastes in food and music, and lots of pretty gals to check out. 2nd ave south is a great area, lots to do. I have many friends there, and enjoy the town when it's not hockey season.

That seems kinda ironic in itself.

But regarding your post, every time I turn on the radio or TV, I hear about the Red Wings fans and orginazation are classless, and how much they suck. When a team has won more Stanley Cups than you have playoff wins, I probably would back up on this "suck" talk.

And I'm not sure how this rivalry got so huge in the eyes of the Preds fans. I guess just because when we were the back to back champs when the team started. I do remember there being some bad blood between the teams early on, but nothing on the scale of Lemieux-Draper-McCarty. One of my friends at school said that being a fan of both the Wings and the Preds is like being a fan of both Michigan and Ohio State. Naturally I had to have the better response so I said it was more like being a fan of both Michigan and Grand Valley State.

And I'll repeat what's already said, but I love living here. The city is beautiful and most of the time the people are great.

I've never walked around Downtown Detroit and worried even for a moment about being mugged. Please try and keep the misinformation to a minimum, k?

Cheli is a stand-up guy, but at the same time he is an AMERICAN. Americans will chirp other americans, as northern Italians will chirp southern Italians. I can't imagine him calling anybody hillbillies in the way to actually affect anybody...

It's actually kind of funny when you imagine it...

You can relax, friend. There are areas of Detroit you should be careful to walk around by yourself, being younger, a women or a even a grown man, along with possibly every other large city around.

BTW, good story Dawings. Proud to have you as a RW fan.

man i lived in tennessee for over 20 years after moving from michigan. it is a great state. of course i grew up on a farm and everything there so im all about the country that tennessee has to offer. i really miss it sometimes. im here in austin texas now o its a big difference. its not as bad as some of the wings fans think. it isn't a bunch of toofless hillbillies running around the ridges or anything. its reall a great place.

My best friend is from Texas and she's currently in Austin; she always calls it the state's 'great exception'

I do apologize for my comments then...I didn't realize that there was anything to back your statement up...I just thought you were picking on her for being a preds fan. Although in talking to her, as I'm sure she never did anything to you, you might have explained yourself better without calling her names. I felt that you were personally picking on her instead of the preds fans that did you wrong. Again...I am sorry.

I lived in areas where there was snow/ice so I had to have a 4x4. Your friend using the OSU - Michigan rivalry is saying that the Preds and Wings are on that level, and the tradition in that rivalry is miles above what is going on between Detroit and themselves.
