"Stars were tired in Game 1"

How could the NHL play game one of this series on Tuesday, when if the Sharks won game 6 there would have been a game 7 that day!!

Don't you think you should finish one round of the playoffs before you start the next, I mean it would seem pretty silly to have the wings start a series with Dallas if the Sharks won game 7.

Then you have to start the series all over again!

And if Aliens came from outer space and used their cosmic shrink ray to steal JLA they would have had to postpone the start of the series while they looked for a new place to play. But because neither of these things happened they could have played on Tuesday. In which case I wouldn't have had to wait a whole freakin week for Wings hockey. And worse than me having to wait, they made my wife wait too and she got damn cranky about it.

Dont forget "The Red Wings play in an easy division"

That one's my favorite excuse. Does anybody bother looking up anything anymore? I see plenty from both sides though - it's just funny when so many doubt what's obvious to everyone else.

It's like when Ozzie gives up a few goals on 15 shots and everyone comes down on him for being a soft goalie - and then Nabby drops 3 on the same in the playoffs and you don't hear a thing about it.

Yeah , it was a rather long layoff for this time of year. My wife, however, other than knowing that when The Wings lose, I'm not in the best of moods, could give a Rats ass. She is the proverbial "Hockey widow". She being from Virginia and me a product of Motown, it's expected. The sport here is Nascar (Gag) and hunting Deer with dogs. My comment is always "it's a Wings thing, you just wouldn't understand" Not to mention my Va licence plate is " RWHCKY "..........even after I tell them what it means I still get blank looks !

When I met her my wife was a Pens fan of all things. It's taken me 10 years, and taking her to watch the Wings win in Detroit, Boston, and San Jose, but I've finally changed her evil ways.

I definitely disagree and feel like we were watching two seperate games. The Wings dominated 5 on 5 as well as special teams (except for the final period where they were hanging back w/ a 4 goal lead and trying to avoid injury). For every chance you listed that Dallas missed, Detroit had one as well... from Kronwall's 2 on 1 to Zetterberg missing the open net on the wrap-around. That game could have been 7-3 if not for some lucky/great saves on either end.

Calls were soft all around. Penalties are going to be called in this series, and so far Detroit has proven to have the better special teams.

Yea, cause we all know that one game is the measure of a team's season or playoff run. The Stars didn't get here by playing midget AA teams. I say that both teams are pretty even on paper. The Red Wings just outworked them the first game.

I mentioned that both teams missed close chances in my first post. Read the last 3 sentences, especially the last one.

Most of the calls were decent. There were a couple weak ones, but I have reffed games before so I know its all based on perception so I really can't blame them too badly. I just know in game 3 or 4, the Stars are going to get a 5 on 3 off a cheap call. Just the way it works out I guess.

For the record, it did not take me 10 years to convert to being a wings fan, it took me less than 10 games in the 97-98 season. And another thing, I'm never cranky - never ever. Not even now.

Ya know, most husbands would be glad to have wives that are ravenous hockey fans and wouldn't sweat what team they cheered for. Now stop talking smack dear and hand me the remote - its game time!

ps - my plates say WNGZNUT - nobody in California can figure out what it means.
