Not if they don't spend some coin on defense. Seriously, with that much talent up front can you imagine what they could do if they added a guy like Lidstrom to take the burden off Gonchar?

I agree 100%, I'm actually surprised at how far they made it this year. At the start of the year I figured they would end up around 4th or 5th but would get bounced early in the playoffs because of their lack of defense. Still though, these forwards are deadly and a couple of the kids at the back are pretty good. I think Letang can be very solid defensively

Well yes, there are many "bandwagon" fans out there to be sure but is there anything really wrong with that anyways? I usually enjoy cheering for one team, it gets me more involved in the game. However, often times those teams change throughout the year for one reason or another.

As long as they are fans of the NHL, then I guess no, there's nothing wrong with bandwagon fans (considering they exist in every sport). I guess I just look at my favorite teams as all or nothing. I love the Wings, Packers and the Brewers. If they don't win it all, I don't feel any satisfaction when another team takes championship.

I understand where you're coming from but I also understand the bandwagon mentality as in NFL football my "team" changes every week

I get that. For me it's really the Wings, Liverpool and the Frölunda Indians. After that, I don't give a crap about what team wins. But if there's a particular player that I really like, let's say Wayne Rooney, then yeah I'll cheer for Man Utd in the Champions League final. And yeah, I'll probably be happier if they win it then.

On a totally random note, every time I see Letang make a good play I say "Commander L'tang! Qapla'!" because I swear it sounds like a good name for a Klingon.

I gotta say that's the funniest thing I've heard all night...:lol:

Alright, I guess I can see what you're saying about individuals. I put it in McCarty terms. When he was with Calgary, I wouldn't have had any sense of fulfillment if the Flames won the Cup, but I would've been happy for D-Mac. *However*, I still wouldn't consider the Flames my "secondary team".

My favorite band of all time is Oasis, and they love Man City. By association I hate Man U. :P

And I've got Svennis in Man City. He was the coach for IFK Göteborg, quite likely my favourite team as a kid...

Tough analogy considering our history there, but in hockey for me it is the Wings and Wings only, but other sports I'm not as big of fan, like say.......... handball

TBH, it has nothing to do with our history there. He could've signed on to Florida for all I care, and I still would've been happy for him if his team had won the Cup, but I wouldn't have gotten any fulfillment out of the Panthers winning the Cup.

On a related note, it's too bad that he's out of the line up....\

Nice glove by Fleury

QFT, but its hard to knock Babs for the lineup change when it worked as well as it did last night. I'm all about the Wings team first, and the name on the back last. I just want the team on the ice that gives the Wings the best chance to win.

Sure seems like the Pens are content to play smart defense thus far this period and the Flyers don't feel like pushing it at this point. ;)

No surprise. The Flyers have made it this far but yet I can't recall a single game where I've seen them have a real "killer instinct" whether they're leading or trailing lol

Watch this post come back to haunt me :D
