Hasek was brutal. Ozzie is playing great. Our team plays better with Ozzie because he is confident and our team feels it..

But Ozzie is not MVP.

Anyways, if he happens to win it, I would be happy for sure! I just think we have some players who have been more valuable so far.

For me, frontrunner is Zetterberg atm.

Yeah, Hasek was awesome last year. Our team was pretty average last season with all in the injuries and he gave us a great chance to win. If the skaters gave him as many 3+ leads last year as they are this year, we'd be going for our second straight.

If the Wings win the Cup, and Ozzie keeps up his stats, and he doesn't win the Conn Smythe?

It will be because of a lack of respect, as he will be the only goaltender in recent history to post those kinds of numbers on a Cup winning team and NOT win the Smythe. Hell, his numbers from the 98 team were as good as or better than many Smythe winners who won it in more goaltender-friendly postseasons.

Osgood has continually made brilliant saves and instills the confidence that the Wings needed. Dare I say something a certain other goalie couldn't do, sorry, couldn't resist

As for MVP. Osgood is a gear in the train that can't be stopped that is the Detroit Red Wings. There are quite a few players that can make a serious case for MVP. Ultimately the game is decided by a goalie. So Osgood should be the front runner.

Hasek was the reason we lost to anaheim imo. Game 6 was horrendous, as were several other games.

The reason is Hasek is a douchebag. I remember he made a kid cry at this signing thing cause he rudly refused to sign a stick that he did not endorse.

Also does anyone else find it funny taht Osgood has let in only 4 more goals than Hasek in 5 games? Or the fact that in a combined 60 seconds Hasek let in more goals in the Nashville series than Osgood has ALL of this series

so pointless, isn't it? I don't understand the hatred for Dom here. Never seen anything quite like it, really... esp. since Ozzie seems to actually appreciate him.

I can see Oz being considered for the Conn Smythe -- but I don't see him as a shoo-in for it, as many do. Goalies generally win the CS when the team isn't capable of winning the games, so the goaltender has to. Ozzie would be (and has been) the first to say, he hasn't had to do that since the team has stepped up and played incredibly since the shaky early round one games.

That takes nothing from Ozzie's efforts, but does realistically point out that Mule, Z, Datsyuk and others have been just as big, if not a bigger factor in the current roll toward the finals.

Anyway, Ozzie stepped in and the team took off. It's hockey, it happens.

First off, im willing to bet ive played a higher level of hockey than you ever had a sniff at, and I understand a good player or goaltender when I see one.

but hey, you showed me. All im saying is its clear that Dom's pompous attitude has reached to his kid, which is why hes an outcast at northville.

Also, i am biased, but only because i am a comeptitor, and wish for the wings to win. Statitics prove ti is more likely to happen with Osgood.

Hasek is more hated than Ozzie because he's not North American, he hasn't spent as many years total with the Wings as Ozzie has, and he's said and done a lot more controversial things in his career than Ozzie has. Also, the way that he left the Wings in 2004 is something that people are still sore about, while Ozzie did not leave on the same terms in 2002.

There's a lot of people around the league that don't like Hasek for whatever reasons. I don't think anyone feels that way about Ozzie (except for Mike Ribeiro ).

Osgood is the goaltender that gives the Red Wings the best chance to win right now.

Hasek was very integral in helping the Wings win the Cup in 2002, was very intergral in helping the Wings make it to the WCF last year when many were calling for another early round upset, and very integral in helping the Wings get the top seed for the playoffs. He unfortuantely didn't completely do his part in the playoffs but he, along with Osgood, helped the Wings this season fairly equally.

This is not going to be a stupid goaltender flame war. For the love of god, please nobody make any more posts suggesting or hinting that this will be a goalie flame war so the few dips**ts in this thread who have spewed their anti-goalie vitol don't have any more ammo to use to post, please nobody make any biased posts or anti-biased posts toward either goalie.

We have had the benefit of having two very solid goalies play for the same team in not one, but two straight seasons, and one of them is coming up big for the team right now.

Leave it at that. As NFM#25 says more/less, Red Wings life is much more clearer when you care about the TEAM more than your favorite goalie.

Neither do I. It's pathetic that some feel otherwise and have to put one goaltender down to put the other up or make either or both goaltenders look like a marytr.
