Why I'm not scared at all

The desperation/elimination/adrenalin factor wears on you. And eventually wears off.

Also - bottom line it: Dallas has to beat this Red Wings Squad 4 games straight? Well? That would make them the best team, but I just don't see that happening.

NO PRESSURE ON THE ROAD FOR GAME 6! Wings 4-1. Pavel has scheduled another clinic for Monday.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They (Stars) are going to get tired real fast.

Hey, I'm new here and there's something I have to say about the whole 33 years thing, which is inevitably going to be brought up during the broadcast of game six. Here's the deal; it happened in 1942 and 1975. 33 years, 33 seasons of hockey. Between 1975 and 2008 is 33 years but, 32 seasons of hockey. We lost the 04-05 season. I have to assume that if there is some divine force that controls the outcome of NHL games (Bettman and Sutherland are not divine), it does so while following the year of hockey, not of Earth. It sounds ridiculous trying to disprove this inane prognostication, but no more ridiculous than thinking because two similar events happened, the duration of time between the two can be looked as an itinerary for the future. I hate to sound like I'm ranting, but I know the 33 years bulls*** is already being pumped in the VS. network's tele-prompters as we speak. Or post I should say.

And in mathematics it takes more than two points to establish a correlation.

I had to get all that off my chest.

But here's to a 0-3 comeback next year.

In any case, both instances of it happened in the Eastern Conference, not the west.

Because yer super-duper-smart like me.

I just get this feeling like they're gonna go home and think, "Well now what are we spoda do?" I can't explain it, and it makes no sense I guess. Just seems to me like they know they need to play they're A+ best to beat us by a goal. Which might also mean that when they make a mistake or 2 that costs they'll puke on their shoes.

I know, makes no sense.

aloha

This longer this series goes, the less are our chances of winning the Cup, because I expect the Pens to finish the Flyers off today. I hope I'm wrong on this.

That's another reason why we need to win game 6, basically to get more rest for the Finals.

I don't foresee much difficulty for our Defense to shut down Pens' one-line-wonder. I think adversity for a Wings team is just what the doctor ordered.

We'll be fine.

You really think Turco was unbelievable today? He made a couple good saves, but I don't remember ever really seeing one that made my jaw drop. We had a lot of shots on goal--as is par for the course--but by and large we didn't have great chances.

Detroit just didn't bring it today. They didn't play with any intensity (apart from Drake I guess). Honestly, they played like a team that knows they only have to win 1 out of 3. But now it's 1 out of 2.

Dallas has done a nice job on Z and D lately and our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines haven't stepped up at all. When we won the previous Cups, we got goals from everywhere. Brown, Kocur, Lapointe, Draper, McCarty....there's hardly been any of that in this run. It's been all Z, D, Franzen, and occasionally Hudler if we're on the PP.

You should check your facts before posting things that are just not correct. 39% of the points have come form those 3 and 61% from other players. If you just conssider goal it's about 60% from those 3. 40% from others. Sorry but the numbers don't jive with your opinion.

Other than Homer and Franzen we don't have anyone who gets to the front of the net, and Franzen is currently hurt.

At first that injury didn't seem like it would affect this series, but now it certainly has. The other guys are playing like they did in the Edmonton series in 06, when we were afraid to crash the crease.

Now that's the biggest exaggeration that I've heard in a long time.

But still... Franzen has been out for a few games now... this problem just started today. Him being out is no excuse, the team is just afraid of the refs.

Like I said in the other thread... I would rather have 50 goals called back because of an ass in the crease than have zero goals go in because no body is man enough to stand in the way...

Agreed. If anyone can think back to last year's playoffs, the Wings lost to Anaheim, but they lost by going down with a fight, by showing they wanted it. After these last two games, I don't know what their problem is: afraid of the refs or afriad to sacrifice themselves. Who wants it more? Yesterday's game was a total disaster right from the very beginning, the Wings never cfame out with any urgency and looked confused most of the time.

I am not worried. No reason.

I am a little disappointed though. Why the heck can't we play consistent game. We played 3 good games and then..2 brutal games, especially the 5th one. In 5th game, we played great for few minutes, then made some bone head plays and our team played horrible 10 mins. How's that possible. Nick needs to have a speech.

if we played like we did in game 5, we would not even make playoffs.

All we need is to get out game back, if they manage to do it, we will advance to SC finals, I am sure.

.....the Wings never came out with any urgency........

I'm not making excuses, nor trying to be smart-assed:

But they didn't play with urgency because they felt no urgency, because there was no urgency. That's the most honest way to put it.

Up 3 games to zilch? Let's see if we can just get some bounces and some calls and scoot on by.

Now Da Stars on the other hand? Down 0-3 already? And they happen to be really good? Well yeah - Dallas' top 2 lines skated their blades dull every single shift right?

They didn't wanna end their season, and technically we weren't going to - W or L.

Tomorrow is a tension-free away game!

And it will be urgent that the Wings win.

So, I ask then, what will it take for the Wings to feel that urgency? Lidstrom said somewhere after the game that they aren't feeling pressure. Maybe if they felt the pressusre they would come out and play?????

So I reply then, it will take this: Exactly what has happened.

Da Wings are 2 games away from done. Coach has informed them of this fact.

(Personally, I'm hoping for a gm 7, but I'm crazy that way.)

I hate the fact that you point out: They are two games from done! If that isn't enough for them to bring their "A" game, then I don't know what is.

The stupid mistakes, the lethargic play, all of it made Turco look good, made Dallas look good. I'm not knocking Dallas, they ARE a good team, but the Wings have played all season long much better than anyone.

I know we've been here before, but it's just mind blowing that they wouldn't just give it everything they had to finish off Dallas and move on.

I'm a little concerned, no doubt.

One thing I see working in the Wings favor is that Dallas had very little pressure on them once they went down 3-0 in the series. The pressure has all been on Detroit to close it out. But something changes when a team comes back to make a series competitive: The team making the comeback suddenly has a bit more pressure on it. Dallas has its goal in sight now. The pressure is still greater on Detroit because of the big lead they had, but the Stars may not be playing as carefree anymore now that they're actually in position to win this series. We'll see if/how it affects them.

Wings will close it out tomorrow, it will be a game 6 like we had last year in Calgary. It will be close but the wings will win the game with a goal from someone we won't expect, hopefully Cleary (he needs one). Besides lets face it, the Red Wings looked bad in Game 5 and all Dallas could get were two goals off of Wings mistakes. We will be celebrating after tomorrows game. I'm even gonna unretire my Yzerman Jersey. I've been rotating Zetterberg and Datsyuk since the Predator series.

Penguins here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok ok i know we just lost and i know the whole every 33 year curse thing comes into mind but I will seriously be shocked if it even goes to 7 games simply based on one observation...

We are the better team.

lets just remember that folks.

Both losses could have easily been wins, if not for a bonehead call that lost us all our momentum, and Turco having the game of his life. Realistically i belive we've won 4 and lost only one, and that one was todays game which can be attributed to a hot goalie. Idk, i just thought we needed some postive energy.

Just remember,

WE ARE THE BETTER TEAM AND AHVE DOMINATED THEM EVERY GAME EXCEPT ON THE SCOREBOARD

I'm scared, IMO the wings are playing like scat the last two games.

Bad turn overs, taking shots when they should pass and taking some pretty dumb penalty's. {does Holmer come to mind?}

We are the better team, but it's like we just gave up after losing the Mule.

Now that's the biggest exaggeration that I've heard in a long time.

Not really that is very descriptive of the entire game yesterday... did you not watch it? its okay if you didn't it was a very pathetic attempt at a puck game.... hell if i wasn't at the game, i probably would have been so frustrated and turned it off

Give the Stars some credit the last two games, they have been desperate and had more urgency. If you guys were pretty much owned by one team for years wouldn't you come out firing and doing whatever it takes to win? I know I would if I was the Stars. Besides the Red Wings were playing like they were too comfortable, given that they had a 3-0 lead in the series. Now that Dallas has fought back, the Red Wings now know that they have to do whatever it takes to put them away tomorrow and they will. They have to win 2 games, we have to win 1. I don't see why there is so much panic.
