Hank 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=238164&...os=secStory_nhl My favorite quote from this was: Dallas is doing all the things expected from teams playing with desperation: Skating harder to loose pucks, winning battles in the corners and playing with more energy from start to finish. That pretty much sums it up. If the Wings are going to win another game they have to outwork the Stars. Skill wins in the regular season, will wins the Cup. But now I have a new reason for the Wings to win this series; I hate TSN anaylst Darren Dreger. This guy is the epitomy of "Leaf Homer". He hates the Wings so much he can't wait to poop all over them. I can't remember the last time he said anything good about them in this postseason. I always want the Wings to win the Cup, but if it means this guy spirals into a bout of depression where he pays for sex with transexuals while watching Ellen Degeneret episodes, I'll be even happier. Screw Dreger.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Isn't Dreger the guy who picked the Wings to win the Cup the last two or three seasons?
Hank 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Isn't Dreger the guy who picked the Wings to win the Cup the last two or three seasons? I think he had the Sharks this year and I believe he had the Ducks last year.
Rice 42 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 No, Dreger picked the Wings last year.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Well we are playing a team fighting on death ground... they are (apart from the suck ass Avs) the hardest teams to play against... I just hope it doesn't take us to meet them on death ground to WAKE THE f*** UP!
12Newf 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 yeah dreger is the only one on tsn who actually likes the wings. he almost always has good things to say about them. i think this might just be a case of him seeing this more objectively than us hardcore wings fans. Yeah that's what I thought. Everytime I've seen his articles, or heard him talk on the TSN panel, he's said nothing but great things bout the team. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Dreger only compliments the Wings when there winning, just like every analyst. When we lose, it's Dallas he compliments. Analysts are just people who like to spout off about random s***. I enjoy guys like Mike Milburry who just try to piss people off to be funny, as opposed to Darren Pang who says stupid s***, but means it.

Well, to be fair, wouldn't compliments generally go to the winning team in any situation? I hardly fault him for that. Unless he entirely changes his tune and makes contradictory statements that is. It's true, though. Dallas is hungry and confident. They've surprised and shocked the behemoth that is the Red Wings, but let's ask this question: Out of the two teams---Detroit or Dallas---which one would "waking a sleeping giant" most likely refer to? My money's on the Wings. Next game is going to be showtime for the Wings to earn their stripes back and remind people how they got this far.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Dreger only compliments the Wings when there winning, just like every analyst. When we lose, it's Dallas he compliments. So he gives credit to the winning team. Isn't that EXACTLY what we bitched and bitched and bitched about NOT happening for the last month and a half?? Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 So he gives credit to the winning team. Isn't that EXACTLY what we bitched and bitched and bitched about NOT happening for the last month and a half?? Yeah it is. Dont get me wrong, I dont have a problem with Dreger, I dont think I got that across in my first post. It's just he compliments the winning teams, whereas most analysts feel bad for the losers and explain why they lost. Dregers actually good to listen too, most of TSN/ESPN/CBC/Sportsnet/NHLnetwork etc. just point out why a team lost and what they can do to fix it, and then occasionally throw in the "Oh but the Wings/Penguins/Stars/Flyers were able to get 4 goals for the victory". I dont see the problem with Dreger, he just says what is expected of him to say. Some could use that example *cough*Pang, Melrose, Jones, Engbolm*cough*. evil204 4 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 They all suck. Brett Hull was the best hockey analyst ever. Seriously.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted May 19, 2008 I think I got accustomed to the fact that every single analyst not picking Wings to win is a "dick" and those who say only positive things about us (or optionally those negative things every Wings fan know) is "smart"... I'm OK with Dregger although he's by far not the smartest guy out there. McKenzie and Pang are head and shoulders above him when it comes to knowledge. and the biggest Wings homer in TSN stuff is Milbury. he had some good critical word on the team recently but other than that has been acting like he wanted to take over from Holland speaking of original post: yes, Stars were definitely outplaying us in those 2 games. but the bigger point is here that Wings were far off their B games and been extremely uncreative and inefficient. I put it on the cooling after 9 straight game winning streak which took it's toll on the team. but they must get up and focus if they want to win this series. sure 3-0 was huge hole but it's now 3-2 and as it stands now there's every reason to believe Stars may win this game and come back to JLA with extra confidence. we need to get our heads up and start putting effort into the game. if we lose Game 6 we're pretty much fu* and may very well get eliminated with big bang
