The only thing that really stuck out was the Roberts punch....but that wasn't that far outside the bounds of the stuff that normally goes on anyway. It's come to that; otherwise the refs would never call anything. All it takes is Homer near the crease to get a call. Jeff Beukeboom had his career ended by a cheap shot to the head after concussions. A shot not unlike the ones Franzen took tonight. Although the hit Beukeboom took was from behind, it was a cheap shot nontheless. There is no place for those kind of actions in hockey. Attempting to end a guys career is above and beyond the game. I understand that as a Pens fan, you're disappointed in your team's play, I know we'd all be the same way if the roles were reversed. Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) the Pens are demoralized, they were on this little fairytale trip to the finals with bettman and the refs giving them reach arounds when ever possible, suddenly a team of which the likes they have never seen comes out and dummies them 2 games straight, it must feel like a metal rod with a sandpaper condom on it went 15 inches into the a-hole that is the Pens. This is good for us, they have lost their composure, Crosby is making excuses left and right, let them dig their own grave and when its done they can simply just roll into it. Granted, I love that when it baits teams into penalties and it's a skill we've mastered...but it's certainly cowardly as well. Most fans with rose-colored glasses wont admit to it, but it's there. Our Wings aren't saints, they just pick their spots very, very, very well. I disagree. No one is saying that the Wings are saints, but if Malone (for example), had come back from a concussion do you honestly think we would be taking punches at his head - from behind? The answer is "no" and I have no rose-colored glasses on. For Franzen to get punched in the head twice - from behind - is cowardly. Roberts should be suspended for that punch - head injuries are no joke. Hockey is already rough, to know a guy is returning from a concussion and then punch him...? C'mon, rose-colored glasses?
