Osgood Is a Diver

He dove right into the Pens' heads tonight. They had nothing for him. Dallas made Oz scramble a few times a game, he has scrambled ONCE in 2 games against the Pens.

I originally predicted Wings in 5, but if Oz keeps playing like this, he is the Conn Smythe winner and 8-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals.

He also dove right into the record books.

I hope the Pens can keep up their offensive skills show for two more games.

Right now Osgood is a winner and that is the only label that counts. Its obvious that they are trying to get Ozzie off his game but Ozzie is flipping it on them, maybe with some acting but its not working for Sindey and the girls in Pitsburgh!

As we listened to the Crosby and Therrien comments at their presser after the game last night I thought "Man, if that's your response to your situation... 'Osgood dives', 'the refs aren't calling the game right', and blame almost everyone else but yourselves, then Dude, you've lost the series!!!"

I didn't get to watch the press conference did Sidney say Osgood dove, or did Therrien? Because if it was SIDNEY than: "Hello Pot? This is Kettle, YOU'RE BLACK!"

As for Ozzie, I can honestly say I am in AWE, and the crowd chanting his name relentlessly at the end of the game last night gave me goose bumps! Ozzie has now officially earned a "man crush" from me. :P

It would be nice if the NHL fined the Pens for there presser (crosby & Therrien) after the game.

Babcock bites his lip at times during presser to avoid fines by the NHL.

I'm loving Ozzies play this postseason.

I'm embarassed at the way he's been trying to sell things though - we're better than that.

I too found it funny Cindy as they were calling him at the game last night, talked about Ozzie diving. Yes it was a dive, second it was in his crease and if it was Hasek they both would have been called. But he (Cindy) didn't talk about the sucker punch in the first he gave Lebda which drew blood, (probably from a split lip)

I think experience has taught the Wings that they HAVE to do this The Wings are a team that has one goal, WIN, and they keep their eye on the prize. They don't let the little things bother them...the little hip checks, sucker punches, cross checks....they just keep going and going until they put the puck in the net. However, they dont get nearly as many calls as other teams do, unless it's something ridiculously obvious. So if Osgood has to embellish a little to make a point that he just got interferred with, then thats what he has to do. It's unfortunate that the Wings have to help the refs do their jobs, but thats what NHL is like these days.

Wings will need to be very watchful though. It looks like Pitt's made a mission to cause Oz good some harm. The Malone call for GI was just bad luck on the Pens part...but that Sykora one was completely intentional. I hate to say take a shot at Fleury...I like him, but his team has ALREADY earned him some retaliation...one more incident and I think you have to.

I would agree with you, if I didn't think it would cause more harm than good, because i think if we take a shot at Fleury, Pittsburgh would try to compleatly take out Ozie

Though i do belive we will see McCarty back after what happened last game

I agree...but then the question needs to be asked, how do you stop the Pens from running Ozzie? Whats the solution?

The first hit while Osgood was in the crease wasn't a dive. The second behind the net was clearly embellishment but one angle did show the Pittburgh player sticking out his elbow. It's not like Pittburgh did not attempt to hit Osgood. If I were him I would fall too just to make sure the officials seen it.

The Sykora incident was a blatant dive. It was most definitely a penalty on Sykora's part, but after having watched the replay a number of times, I'm pretty sure he wasn't "after" Ozzie in that sense. I mean, Wings were bumping Fleury behind the net all night.

they whine about what ozzie did in the end of the game... In reality if they lost by 1 goal or at least scored 1, whining would a little more appropriate, but they got outshot badly both games and outplayed, yet they whine? Dallas didnt whine, avs didn't even use their injuries as excuses... Why do pens collectively whine so much if they didn't show up to the finals? Its their fault not Ozzie's or wings for that matter...

I originally predicted Wings in 5, but if Oz keeps playing like this, he is the Conn Smythe winner and 8-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals.

If all the bitching about Oz diving is Therrien's way of politicking, something Scotty Bowman perfected, then good for him.

But if he really is just complaining like a little *****, then the guy is completely unprepared to be a Cup winning coach.

As for Oz's escapades. In Dallas, I have no doubt in my mind Ozzie was selling that. I can't believe he was hurt in the slightest. Oh well, big deal.

As for last night. On the Malone bump, just about any goalie in the league is going to go down on that one. You're in your crease and a guy bumps you, go down. Is it a dive? IMO, it's like a semi-bluff. Oz probably could've stayed on his feet but I can't rule out the possibility that he really was unable to stay up. On the Sykora bump though, that's absurd. Sykora got a nice piece of Oz, who looked wholly unprepared to take body contact there, I mean why would he think he was going to get clipped there, so I think on that one the Pens are full of s*** and need to quit their bitching.

As for the obstruction comments. Holy s***, go over to the Pens board and they are just going ape s*** over it, calling us the most obstructive team in decades. You should see the s*** they're complaining about. Like our forwards bumping guys with the puck. Yes, one ****** bag actually called out Zetterberg for bumping a guy who HAD THE PUCK!

Last time I checked, a defender has just as much right to a spot on the ice as a forechecker when neither of them has the puck. That ice doesn't only belong to one guy. Not our fault that our guys are good at getting to that spot first and forcing the Pens attackers to slow up or go around them. Also, being hard on your stick, on the other guy's stick, putting your weight on the puck carrier, riding the guy shoulder to shoulder and rubbing them out is not obstruction so much as it is solid, defensive, body positioning.

The only thing I saw last night that I sort of cringed and said "oops, we got away with that one" was Brad Stuart. If you rewind the video on the Filpulla goal I think, its behind the net and a Pitt guy has the puck and Stuart absolutely just puts his stick into the midsection, parallel to the ice and impedes him. A definite hook considering the ticky, tacky s*** they've been calling. The ref was right there, didn't call it, the puck was turned over, passed up ice and Flip eventually scored. We got away with that one. Oh, but Roberts got away with punching Mule in the head so I'm not going to feel bad about it.

LOL! They ARE complaining about obstruction?!?!? If the obstruction penalty is called then that favors the RED WINGS!!!

Also, if they only had played against New Jersey in 95 then they would know a team well prepared at obstructing.
