Time for some respect

In the months leading up to the playoffs there were a ton of threads about who should be the goaltender in this years playoff run.

To all of you who thought it should be Dom, you can apologize to Osgood here. It's ok.

And if the Wings win the Cup, I'll gladly get in line to eat some crow on that one.

Personally, I felt and still feel both our Goaltenders could get the job done, Never Doubted Ozzie and didn't really think He would get his chance in the Playoffs either. Dom played ok first couple games, then messed up and played bad, Ozzie had his chance and has never looked back.

I am impressed and how well Ozzie has played, It has to be really hard staying ready playing backup but he stayed ready got his chance and now he is unstoppable.

Even though Dom played like dirt in round 1 I am proud of both of our goalies, They both had great seasons to get us to this point and Ozzie is bringing it home once again.

This entire community could use to apologize to at least one or two members of the Wings squad or management if they win the cup this season. Apologizing now before the job is done is a little too soon IMO.

It could be just my small circle of 'hockey friends' but we all pretty much agree, the Wings play more confident in front of Ozzie. I don't know if the Wings get passed Nashville if the change isn't made. Nashville had a mental edge.

Which is why I never got involved in goalie battles. I still have the utmost confidence that if Ozzie went down in the first period of Game 3, Hasek would come in and win us the Cup. No team in the league has anything close to the goaltending depth we have. Most teams don't even have one goalie as good as either of ours.

I'm still a little angered with Ozzie, a little, with respect to his diving. I haven't noticed it before, because I don't think it was there, but he has been diving a bit in the playoffs.

Apart from that, he has impressed me, he is playing better than I ever thought he could. The Pens haven't been able to do very much yet, but they have gotten some pretty good chances and Osgood has been there every time to make the save. He hasn't been spectacular, but he has been very good.

On the diving, the one thing keeping me from really disliking it is the following: I'm going back to my experience argument here as going into the series I thought this would simply be the reason the Wings would win and it is definately playing out that way. Osgood is an experienced goaltender and he is obviously aware that the officials are cracking down on goaltender interference, so Osgood takes this opportunity to sell a few calls when someone gets hear him. On replays, you can see what Osgood is doing, but in the moment, it must be tough for the refs to see this. I think Osgood has done a good job at that without making himself look foolish, which Hasek has tended to do in the past.

I too, tried to keep my mouth shut about the Great Goalie Debate most of the season, because for the majority of the year, BOTH goalies have been very solid(sometimes GREAT) in net. I CAN; HOWEVER say that prior to the season, I was not a big fan of the Wings using Hasek for yet one more year. But, no harm no foul, everything has worked out VERY well, wouldn't everyone agree on that? The cool part is that Ozzie is only 35, he can be a solid starter for 3 more years, and if Howard doesn't pan out (which IMHO I don't think he will...) those 3 years can give Holland some time to find and develop our "true" goalie of the future!

I have always like Ozzie, even in the giveaway in the '94 playoffs against the Sharks. I do believe if he get another cup, he is HOF worthy. He may not get elected in his 1st year, but not long after. I mean look at his stats and don't say he has played on some great teams (so has Roy, Brodeur and others).
