Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 The "one year wonder" Ducks?... I don't know about that but the Sharkies and Stars maybe. The difference is that these Western powerhouses are DEFENSIVE teams as are the Wings. Are you listening Pens. DEFENSE wins cups. I think that it was Scotty that said this and once again he is proven correct. We are winning because of our Defense first and foremost. I think the ducks could bet them. The Pens fans are going around saying we are dirty now. We are hitting and being physical and I don't see them handling it. The ducks are a very dirty team, and they also hit a lot. All the whining about Kronwall leaving his feet and Datsyuk and Zetterberg being dirty is only screwing the Pens over because they are gonna focus on that rather than their actual problems. Imagine how much whining they would do if they were against the ducks.
spyder 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 The penguins only strategy is 'keep crosby on the ice as much as possible, and rely on his crying ability to draw penalties.'
poxer 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 The penguins only strategy is 'keep crosby on the ice as much as possible, and rely on his crying ability to draw penalties.' It would work if they can stay out of the box.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 The penguins only strategy is 'keep crosby on the ice as much as possible, and rely on his crying ability to draw penalties.' As long as he skates fast and moves his feet, he deserve all the calls.
poxer 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 As long as he skates fast and moves his feet, he deserve all the calls. I forget who it was on, Malkin or Crosby, but Cleary was called for hooking on one of the two in the neutral zone, which I thought was bogus... And then I see Kronwall doing worse, hooking that is, in the corners and he isn't being called? I'm so confused on whats a penalty now-a-days.
MIN8TV 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 it's got more to do with the Wings shutting them down than the Pens playing badly Thank you! "We're just not playing well", etc... You can thank the Red Wings for that.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Series is far from over. It takes 4 games to win a best-of-7, not 2. The Wings have certainly blown 2-0 leads before and/or lost 4 straight in the playoffs, as well as rally from an 0-2 deficit. I know those were entirely different situations/years (1999 COL, 2001 LA, 2003 Anaheim, 2002 Vancouver in reverse), but it certainly still can happen this time as well. And Dallas gave us a run for our money after we declared them well past their last lifeline going up 3-0. That being said, I'm very excited and encouraged how well this team played the first two games. If the Wings can still manage to play solid defense as they have the first two games, and take one of these next two games in Pittsburgh, I really like our team's chances even more. We need to take one of these games on the road. Edited May 28, 2008 by SouthernWingsFan
TrueBlueblood 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 They were never really that good. They blew through 3 weak eastern teams and only lost 2 games in the process. Lot of people were not watching what was happening in the West and thought that the Pens 12-2 record meant they were better than our 12-4 record. That and the league hyped the heck out of the matchup to get the tv ratings. The 5 day break helped the case. Unfortunately the casual hockey observers were duped. They were expecting a battle for the ages and what they have seen so far has been a blow-out of the ages. I can here the tv's shutting off right now. I'm sure many Pens fans also weren't watching what was happening out West and they got the shock of their lives. Moral of the story is, don't believe everything that you hear or read. Lastly, the two best teams aren't playing. The Wings should be in the East then we could see Dallas-Detroit or San Jose-Detroit in the finals. Now that would be awesome. They were lucky to get passed the Rangers, to tell you the truth. The refs gave them a LOT of help in that series.
