PIT columnist: Reputations falling as fast as Penguins

It's not always the easiest stance to take but I always have respect for a writer who can bash aspects of their own team, especially when they resort tactics as juvenile as Therrien's whining.

If one would try it wouldn't be too hard to feel a lot of sympathy for the Pens players, organization, reporters and everyone else that root for this team and want them to be successful. It's obvious this team is completely lost and frustrated, grabbing every straw and excuse. How else should you feel after cruising your way through the east, going 12-2, and then hitting a red, impenetrable brick wall.

I guess this doesn't matter until the series is indeed over, but still.

Asked about how the Red Wings were neutralizing Crosby, Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom actually said, "Who?"

Didn't mean to be flip. He just didn't hear the question. When it was repeated, he explained the whole clinical process.

That's funny even though he didn't mean it :D

"Roberts' punch to Franzen's head was team's low point"

Hmmm.. intent to injure... wow nice job Penguins!!!

"If all that weren't embarrassing enough, Penguins coach Michel Therrien was intent on blaming the officials, who are about the 82nd most impactful architects of this 2-0 well the Penguins find themselves in."

Like the refs work in our favor... they call off good goals...

"They're good at obstruction," Therrien said of the impending Stanley Cup champions. "It's going to be tough to generate any offense if the rules [are going to be enforced] the same. It's the first time we've faced a team where the obstruction is there. We took two penalties against the goaltender. We never do that. He's a good actor. He's diving. He did the same thing against Dallas."

Talk about diving... doesn't Crybaby Crosby do that all the time, or is he taking skating tips from Fleury...

Good Article...

To sum it all up.. poor losers... crybabies...

Now Lets Play Some Hockey!!!! GO WINGS!!!

Harsh...

Harsh but true.

The series is far, far from over but say if the Wings win this series in 4 or 5 games and you see them continuing to say the same things, it will be a shame for them. Lack of leadership, more often than not just excuses besides starting with yourselves first for losing.

Trying to get referees to side with you in post-game conferences and things like that certainly don't bother me, but if you take little/no personal account to get your team better, especially after they've been shut out twice (and this hasn't been 1-0 triple overtime shutout-type games), there's a problem with that I think.

I read that the other day. I went and looked at the other writeups on the Pittsburgh papers and not one of them would give an honest appraisal of the goonery. Sad. Don't want to lose their access to the team I guess. Very sad.

Let's be honest, the dude doesn't like his own hometown NHL-team.

It's just too obvious,.

To be negative and trying to point what's going wrong is one thing, but he's just flatout sarcastic.

It's a funny read, but a little bit too much, IMO.

There's a lot of talk about goalie equipment surrounding the final, but no one has said out loud that Osgood seems to have a mattress and box spring in front of the Detroit goal. Of course he doesn't, otherwise the Penguins would be all over it, tucked in for the night.

LOL!!!!

Wow! Good to see someone there who is willing to point out the obvious! The Pens are not playing well at all but they would rather resort to goonery and whinning, instead of trying to address the root causes for their problems.

It reminds me so much of the Wings-Devils final in '95. We walked right through the West and then got our asses handed to us by New Jersey.

We all complained about the nuetral zone trap but we had no answer for it.

This is the best thing for Pittsburgh. Their young kids will learn from this just like the Wings did back then.
