When to pull the goalie down by 1 goal?

I would have pulled the goalie long before we was finally pulled! There was plenty of opportunity to get that extra skater out there with about 2 minutes left and maybe even a bit sooner... could have made a difference. Its the Stanley Cup final we were only down by 1 and truning it on a the end of the 3rd... if your about to lose why not go balls out?

i agree with that. i thought they could have pulled him when they had sustained pressure with around 2 minutes left.

just one of those judgment calls. i would have played it a bit different, but thats why i am not an nhl coach!

When the Wings got the power play with 4:30 to go, it would have been perfect time to have a 4 on 6. I can promise you we would've had alot more chances then the amount we had in the final 1.5 minutes of the game.

I was thinking more around the final 2 minute mark but I think your idea is very risky but very gutsy and I like it. Why not? We up in the series, down in the game by only 1, at the time the momentum was on our side AND we were already up 1 man. I like your thinking Chaldean.

No way! You don't pull the goalie with more than 3 minutes left if your down by 1 goal. Especially if you're on the power play, other team gets free shots at the empty net. 4:30 is a TON of time to score a goal. You let the power play go, see what's working for you. Then get the puck deep, pull the goalie, and hopefully get a stoppage. The Wings never got it deep after the power play; at least when they had possession. By the time they had possession, there was 30 sec left and it was in their zone. Just didn't work out.

Kinda hard to pull him when PIT dumps it in with 1:00 left to play and it takes us 30 freaking seconds to get it out. Our older men were a bit tired it seemed.

Guess it was cuz the coach didn't use his bench wisely, eh?

TBH, I was kind of hoping Babs would've pulled Oz at about the 1:30 mark when they did get the puck deep. Even that can be considered a little early since most coaches like to do it around the 1:10-1:15 mark if they're down by a single goal. Either way, once the 1:15 mark came the Pens did a nice job of clearing the zone.
