crotty99 302 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I was just checking out the opposition message board and came accross this gem http://msgboard.pittsburghpenguins.com/ind...t=0&start=0 I really hope no one believes this argh makes me sick. Before their coaches dummy spit after game 2 i never heard any mention of the wings being the master of obstruction, yet now the pens fans are acting as though they have been saying it all along. Obstruction has become the new buzz word! Wings in 5!
HoweHatTrick 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Did you hear their crowd last night? For a city that knows it's hockey, they sure let out a lot of whines any time a Wing came close or knocked down a Pen and no call was made.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 What do you expect? The three greatest players in the Pens' history were all whiners.

I just cant believe someone can write what is in that thread and actually believe the words they are typing. I wonder if they will cry about us obstructing when we are lifting the cup "OMGZ the wings are lifting the cup preventing it from being on the tableee!!" Sully75 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I'm from KC, so last year I spent quite a bit of time lurking on their board, trying to get the latest info on their arena situation, hoping for the best. I think I maybe posted once or twice. Anyhow, my experience is that they are some utterly classless folks over there. They weren't toward me, because I knew not to step in s*** while I was there, being a fan from a town that wanted an NHL team. But I came away with a new disrespect for the Pens fans on that board. ronsolo3 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) Even when Dallas was down 3-0 in the WCF, you never heard them cry. Tippet & Co. were classy in the pressers...not happy at all, but classy. They gave Detroit the credit they deserved. Why is this Pittsburgh team (and fans) such babies? It really makes them look bad. Is that an East thing? Where was all the obstruction last night? Makes MT look kinda foolish now, don't you think? The Pens fans are complaining how boring the Wings style is (a la '95 Devils). Problem is, they are only watching one team play. I guess it would seem that way. But being an outsider, I think Detroit plays the most beautiful hockey on the planet. They are amazing to watch! Detroit deserves the cup and all the hardware coming their way this year. They have been the epitome of NHL hockey and anyone who doesn't see that has their head up their five hole. GO WINGS!! This is your year! Edit: spelling Edited May 29, 2008 by ronsolo3
HoweHatTrick 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 spectacular thread............ you small minded ones are actually in here whining about fans whining.....very comical.... heres hoping brooks orpik smashes a few more people saturday......... see you in game four.... good luck Actually, I wasn't whining at all. Just pointing out the facts. It makes no difference to me how much fans whine about calls or non-calls. I just found it very surprising since it's a town that is knowledgeable about hockey. It's the type of thing you'd expect from So-Cal.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 What about all the fans at the game last night? Just read this on the Freep and if this is true... I was watching CBC last night. The network didn't show this, but Scotty Bowman did the ceremonial puck drop. When Scotty was announced he was booed. Until the arena announcer added that he also won 2 Cups with Pittsburgh. Then he was cheered. Way to go Pittsburgh for booing the greatest coach in sports history, and for knowing your Penguins history and not realizing Scotty also won in Pittsburgh. Wow. mjlegend 155 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 What about all the fans at the game last night? Just read this on the Freep and if this is true... Wow. I guess when your average Crosby fan is eight years old, you don't have any frame of reference. They probably would have booed Bob Johnson if he was alive because he was from Wisconsin. Without him and Scotty Bowman, they were just another St. Louis Blues-type team.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 The best explanation of the behavior of the Pens is socialism. They exhibit the symptoms of a society trained to believe they have a right to things that in reality they have to earn, and that anyone who has it (i.e. success, skill) is somehow cheating. kelloggfan 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 dont lump board writers in with the general population... pretty sure you will find some pretty classless people here, or in philly....... or anywhere Ya, you are right about that...some people get pretty carried away with the love of their team. All in all, if you actually watch the replay of the game last night, you will see that the Wings made a couple mistakes (Stuart) which cost them 2 goals. Nothing against the Pens, hey that's how you win games, capitalize on the mistakes. However, the Pens were on their heels the rest of the game and it sure did go silent when Detroit scored the 2nd goal. I think in their hearts they know that Detroit has the much stronger team and should win the Cup...but it is not a gimme and the Wings have to win the next 2 to get it. They were definitely on the edge of their seats near the end of the game.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 ?! I'm a polysci major, I can relate anything to politics. But it really does disgust me, this sense of entitlement the Pens seem to have.
