Ya, you are right about that...some people get pretty carried away with the love of their team.

All in all, if you actually watch the replay of the game last night, you will see that the Wings made a couple mistakes (Stuart) which cost them 2 goals. Nothing against the Pens, hey that's how you win games, capitalize on the mistakes. However, the Pens were on their heels the rest of the game and it sure did go silent when Detroit scored the 2nd goal. I think in their hearts they know that Detroit has the much stronger team and should win the Cup...but it is not a gimme and the Wings have to win the next 2 to get it. They were definitely on the edge of their seats near the end of the game.

But it really does disgust me, this sense of entitlement the Pens seem to have.

I think we're entitled to a level playing ice. What's wrong with that?

Having said that, I didn't have much of a problem with the borderline clutching/grabbing because it wasn't like the Pens couldn't have played the same way without penalty. But I also didn't have a problem with the gamesmanship of calling the Wings out for it to get that edge back as an alternative to playing the same style. The way I saw it last night, it's possible the Wings players were more careful because they thought the refs might have listened to Therrien. You can call it whining (I would if I were a Wings fan), but it may have worked by getting in their heads a little. We need every edge we can get at this point. I won't deny that.

To be completely honest, every fansite is like this. LGW is no different.

Every loss is due to officiating.

Hockey's my favorite sport but I don't hear anything close to the amount of bitching in other sports when it comes to the officials.

My favorite is, if your team loses, it's because of the referees. But I've never once, NOT ONCE, seen a thread started saying "Thank you refs for winning us that game". Every win is earned while every loss is because of officiating.

While there are many puck bunnies with that mentality, I'd like to think most knowledgable Pens fans don't feel this way. Before the Philly series, we were already making fun of the "Cryers" for articles complaining about the Pens getting favorable calls before the first puck dropped. They're pretty predictible that way and we like to think we're above that for the most part.

The fans I respect most on our boards do not think the officiating has made a difference in the outcome of this series so far. The officiating is bad, but it's poor both ways and not as bad as the coaching from our bench. I saw Therrien's whining as gamesmanship more than anything else, and most of the whining on our message board was just plain venting from the casual fan.

You've been the better team in this series and there's no disputing 2-1 is where we are and should be right now.

The best explanation of the behavior of the Pens is socialism.

They exhibit the symptoms of a society trained to believe they have a right to things that in reality they have to earn, and that anyone who has it (i.e. success, skill) is somehow cheating.

Just about every 25 year old or under hockey fan in Pittsburgh have hoped on the Crosby bandwagon, the older Penguins fans may know a little, but still. Mario and Crosby are the only good things to ever happen to that team. I love Jammy, but hated him while he was with Pittsburgh.

There were two really big non calls in the game last night. I give full marks to the Pens they did what they needed to do and got a win but the pitch fork of HAL I’m really tall and that’s all GILL was a blatant "obstruction" penalty that was not called and on the third goal the hockey god himself GARY I will sucker punch you in the head ROBERTS should have been called for something when he hit Lilia in the corner before either of them had touched the puck. The Pens fan can cry all they want about obstruction but it has gone both ways.

Seriously though. There was all kinds of conspiracy talk back in round three. As if the NHL really wanted Dallas over Detroit? Come on. Detroit Pitt is a dream match-up on several levels. It's been fun to watch as an outsider so far.

I dont understand why folks here thought the NHL would go out of there way to avoid this series.

I do 'feel' that it's odd that two good goals (within only a few games apart) were waived off. But that's just referee incompetence. Despite that, Detroit keeps battling. I'm very proud of my team.

I don't know about that statement about other sports I don't watch basketball at all but all I'm hearing from basketball fans right now is yelling about the non-call the other night. At least their league had the balls to come out and say yeah we screwed up it was a bad call and we're looking into it. It was a bad call that literaly cost a team a playoff game in the final seconds, and still they admitted to it. Would you be more or less pissed if the NHL came out and said, yeah we f'ed up calling back that goal but we're looking at what we can do about making things better in the future? We're all human, even refs, but man up and admit your mistakes.

As far as the refs looking at clutching and grabbing closer, I'm cool with that. As long as they look at all the stick holding by 87 and all the times he spends chopping at our guys legs. Add to that all the slewfooting by Evgeni Munster. They've been calling things loose in both directions so neither team really has much to ***** about as far as non-calls so far this series. Pitt got away with a ton of roughing last night (it looked more like UFC with sticks in front of Flower) but it's freaking hockey and they finally learned that's what it's going to take to beat the Wings.

Does he enjoy Crosby? Of course he does. Why wouldn't he? Crosby is a marketing gold mine. And you can never say that his play wasn't up to the hype. This guy was hyped to all ends, but he's delievering. Can he be a *****? Sure he can. But take a look at this game...it's becoming one big ******, ie: Osgood, Riberio, Avery, Jagr, and so on and so forth.

I am definetly not a Bettman fan, and I am definetly a Red Wing fan! Do I think that the Bettman is manipulating the series? Hell who knows. Could we ever prove he was? No. But when you have a team like Detroit rich in history playing in the 'new nhl' and playing the 'face of the nhl' for the Stanley Cup, its hard to think at times that Detroit would get a fair shot. Or does the nhl have any morals left in them? But it is a little disturbing to see in the first period of the first game a non-goal and a goaltender interference penalty, and numerous penalties called on Detroit. I am not saying its a conspiracy at all, but it sure can piss a guy off. I love hearing constantly nbc, versus, and the league so far up Crosby ass. They are practically in his colon!

And on another note about whiners from these other teams on this forum, quit your bitching about everything. All I hear is bitching about big bad Detroit. Its hard to understand why you are all bitching about Detroit, when its teams like the Stars and the Penguins always trying to injure and play it dirty after the whistle. Your playing the least likely team to retaliate against your team. And whats great is, Detroit has either beaten your ass, or is in the process.
