Here is an example of an insane Pens fan

Why is it Pittsburgh is the only team the entire year to complain about "obstruction" and "the trap"?

Maybe it's because they're unfamiliar with the concept of defense?

They ***** about not being able to score, but none of this seems to have stopped the Wings from scoring a lot in games this season. Kind of funny if you ask me.

These guys are stupid.

Why dont we take the ice away, move the game to the beach, put ramps in behind the net so the puck cant be played by the goalie and stop playing D.

Oh wait, we did that and called it Pro Beach Hockey. How long did that travesty last?

I doubt they are the only ones that complain - hell, I complain everytime we play Minnesota about the trap too. Problem is - it works and it is an effective system on a lot of levels.

The OP is a retard and although he claims to have watched the game for 32+ years, I seriously doubt they've been consecutive if he isn't lying altogether.

It wouldn't surprise me if those "32 years" is more like 3.2 years or however long Crosby has been playing for them.

I was on the other pens board and some guy was claiming we are dirtier than the flyers lol and they are pissed at the refs for not "helping them out". You need the refs to win? you had a 5 on 3 for 86 seconds! I have now come to the conclusion that most pens fans are 13 year old boys that are in love with Crosby, or at least they act that way......

Have to call myself out on this one somewhat. I'm seeing a TON of pens fans bitching about the game being "boring" or that Osgood sucks but is somehow artificially being made to look like the best goalie ever, etc. I can remember thinking/saying the exact same stuff back when we were swept by NJ in the finals and pretty much any time we've lost to the Ducks; playoffs or regular season.

It's amazing how winning or losing changes your view of what's an exciting game or not. Had the pens won it in the 3rd the exact same game would now be talked about as being the most exciting game in the history of their franchise.

ridiculous. The only thing wings fan should be ashamed for is Osgood's dive.

Look at their five on five play or even just the number of shots they get even strength. This is a team geared specifically around capitalizing on whatever PP they get and playing not to lose the rest of the time. The very fact that they made it though the east so easily speaks volumes as to how weak the east currently is. Half a dozen of the western teams would have pounded the Pens in the finals.

Had we not had two terrible turnovers and decided to take 40 minutes of Game 3 off, we would already be parading around with the cup and Cindy would be on the back nine this morning.

This comparison was kind of funny to me. I was thinking: in hockey, watching all three periods and hoping that the game winner scored early into the third period holds up as those final seconds tick off the clock - there's nothing like it! Most NBA games, I'm content watching the last 3-5 minutes when the most important action takes place!

For those keeping score at home:

Over the course of four games, the Pittsburgh Penguins have gone from being an "unstoppable offensive force" with "the best team defense in the league" and "the hottest goalie in the playoffs" to a team that needs weak/phantom calls from the zebras just to have a fighting chance. Malkin, aka 1/2 of "One of the most dynamic duos hockey has ever seen," has been a total non-factor. This guy was nominated for the Hart? If anything, he's hurt his team more than he's helped it in this series. Fleury? Unimpressive. Ditto for Michele "The Tears" Therrien. Crosby? Crosby has consistently been the Pens' best player, but he doesn't have much to show for it. And he whines like a little girl. "Sid the Kid" has some growing up to do, as he's looking like just that -- a kid.

So basically, I can understand why a Pens fan would be frustrated right now.

QFT. I actually think Hossa has been their best player in this series and he is a rent-a-player that is definitely not coming back. With 14 UFA after the season the Pens have major and, possibly, unsolveable problems for next year. The smartest thing they could do is yank the C off of Cindy and find someone that could fill the leadership role until he grows up. Roberts might have been a good choice but he has since proven himself to be a sucker punching ****** and isn't fit to wear the C.

I dont know it wouldnt be that easy but it could be done. Perhaps kinda like a zone defense penalty depending on the puck and where the players are bunched at. I saw an idea years ago how to do it that was pretty good but damn if i can remember what it was.

One easy way for certain is to expand the rinks a little and call every obstruction penalty you see until they are trained not to obstruct.

Either way something needs to be done. We have 80 some shots in 4 games and pretty much everyone one of them has been bad shots. Thats a freakin joke for the NHL. The Finals should be the league showcasing itself. Instead we get smothered ice. It sucks.

This guy is an idiot!!

edit: ^^Your sig is hilarious!!

I definitely think Crosby should keep the "C." He just has some maturity issues, which is to be expected. He makes up for them with his play -- although at some point he's going to need to start working on the PK.

I thought Hossa had been completely invisible until last night. That guy, the one we saw last night, is the Hossa I wanted Kenny to sign on deadline day. People have been saying "Flip > Hossa," "Stuart > Hossa," but I maintain that if Hossa were wearing the Winged Wheel in this series and Flip and/or Stuart were wearing the black and gold, no Wings fans would be complaining. He got a crucial goal, he rang one off the crossbar only a few minutes later, he forechecked hard, he backchecked diligently, he was fast, he mixed it up a little in the corners -- basically, he looked out of place on the Pens team last night. In a good way. Pound-for-pound, he's probably the most complete player they have, and I still think he could be an absolute monster if he were to play in Motown.

Also QFT. This series has proven without a doubt that he lacks the maturity to be a REAL leader on (and off) the ice. The only reason he's captain is because, well, he's Crosby. It was a foregone conclusion that he WOULD be captain someday, but he clearly wasn't ready for it. One of the veterans on the team should have been wearing the C for at least a few seasons until Crosby was REALLY ready.

That is the stupidest collection of posts I've read in my life. This "Master Shake" person wins most idiotic person of the century.

"Look at it like this, would you rather watch Crosby on a backcheck or trying to break thru a trap or would you rather watch him on a 2 on 1 or breakaway?"

So we should ammend the rules so that crosby must be allowed to enter the zone on a 2 on 1?

This guy is an idiot!!

Well, to be fair, no less a figure than Scotty Bowman has proposed some kind of "key" in the defensive zone within which only 4 skaters are allowed. This is to prevent all 5 skaters collapsing round the net, blocking shots and preventing rebounds - something the wings are exceedingly good at.

Having said that, that poster is just having a big cry-baby rant "wah! wah! We're not good enough to break down the Wings defense! Wah! The league should change the rules so we can win! Wah!". I used to think like that when I was 7.

I would like to see what Hossa could do in a winged wheel sweater also. In fairness, pretty much everyone on the Pens was invisible in the first two games. I don't think trying to sign Hossa is in the cards for Detroit, though.

Then again....I never figured we would get Rafalski, either.

I totally agree, I mean i love basketball. but a lot of the times I just catch the last quarter because thats when the nail bitting starts coming into play. In hockey there is more times when I get nervous...scrambles in front of the net, powerplayes, breakaways, penalty shots, 2 on 1, hitting the posts...ect...Basketball starts out quiet. in hockey the fans go ape s*** when there is a chance.

The Pens have been playing the trap all playoffs.

Just not very well. haha

And apparently we play "Trash Hockey" and "We used to be a team of skill once upon a time"
